6 Lessons on Communication AJ & I have learned from our relationship.👇

AJ and I celebrated our 8 year wedding anniversary earlier this month.
We have learned so much about ourselves over these last few years and it has allowed us to nurture this relationship and grow as individuals.

Further, this relationship has taught us how to communicate better no matter the situation.

Let’s break down the lessons.

One. NO ONE CAN READ YOUR MIND. They can read your body language, possibly your tone and other outward signs. But they can’t read your thoughts. If you have a need, concern, desire or question, say it. You must advocate for yourself by speaking for what you need.

Two. No matter the relationship- friend, family, co-worker, networking acquittance, etc. if you don’t make it a priority to invest time it, it will NOT grow. We have to invest time into people we want relationships with.

Three. The quality of the time you spend with others matters more than the amount of time. If you’re distracted and not paying attention to those you are with, how can you listen, learn more or understand them? Be present and put the phone away after you take pictures.

Four. Learn about how they like to communicate. Are they visual person, a verbal processor, or another form? Do they like phone calls, texts, FaceTime or in-person time? Learn about them so you know their preferred method of communication.

Five. Ask questions, be open and listen to others. Too often we are planning what we are saying next versus listening to the other person. Listen, confirm, then move forward.

Six. Focus on personal development and growth in your own life. By growing yourself, you can show up in your best form for whatever you may face and learn from every situation.

What does lifting heavy mean?

We see this a ton online but where do you start to figure it out for you and how much do you really need to lift?

It comes down to a few factors.

💪What is heavy for you?
Heavy varies from person to person. What is heavy for me, may not be heavy to you or vice versa.

💪What are your goals?
Do you want to do a 200 pound deadlift, take your groceries all inside in one trip, or pick up your kids? All of these goals are different and require different plans of action to complete them. Yes, there will be cross over but there is more than one way to the finish line.

💪What are your current circumstances?
Do you have any diseases to be management, illnesses or concerns? Have you not lifted in a year, lifted your whole life or what equipment do you have access to? All of these need to be considered when helping you plan how much you need to lift.

In summary, heavy doesn’t always mean 100s of pounds. Further, making a plan to find heavy for you will help you achieve your goals since you know where the finish line is.

Comment below, What is a fitness goal you have been working towards lately?

One thing in my journey as a coach and an athlete is I don't know everything. Nor do I want to.

I think it is important to connect with others in the industry so we can better serve our clients and also know we can fully trust whom we refer out to.

The BreatheFit Team is amazing and can teach you something no matter where you are in your fitness journey, from Pro Athlete, Recreational Athlete or just plan to try to catch your breath while walking in the grocery store.

Never underestimate the power of your breath. If you have any questions about breath and how to improve yours (no matter if you have asthma, post-co**d, allergies or another breathing condition), these gentlemen can help you.

What the heck is a program?

A program is a workout or a series of workouts.

Typically, the word program is used to describe a series of workouts created to help the body reach a specific goal in a time frame.

A program can include exercises, how much of each to do, rest times, heart rate training, cardio, mobility routines, stretching, and more.

Examples of Programs (Made these up):
12 Week Fat Loss Program
A Year Long Strength Training Program to get Stronger and Move Better
3 Months to Your First Powerlifting Competition

A program can change drastically from month to month or week to week or have very small changes to get your body to adapt to the demands.

A program can also look different based on the coach- on paper, excel, email or app/software (look at attached photos to see examples).

Have you ever followed a workout program before? Or do you write all your own workouts? Tell me below 👇

Your fitness journey is only as complicated as you allow it to be.

That’s right.

It is your choice.

And your perspective.

You maybe making it difficult because you feel like that is:

❌What you are supposed to do.
❌What you are supposed to feel.
❌What everyone (and all the industry) tells you it is like.

My friend it doesn’t have to be that way.

✅ Your nutrition can be simple and enjoyable.
✅Your workouts can be short. Simple. And ENJOYABLE.

⭐️You can still enjoy life and maintain your health.

It doesn’t have to be this or that.

⭐️It can be BOTH.⭐️
