TCDYC exists to promote sailing in the greater Houston area. We typically launch from mile 4 on TCD. We are a virtual club that exists at http://tcdyc.com.

The Texas City D**e Yacht Club exists to promote sailing in the greater Houston area. Our home base is the Texas City D**e - a 5 mile long structure that protects the Texas City shipping channel from siltation and provides a beach, protected water and some of the best catamaran sailing in the nation.

If you have sailed at the Texas City D**e, then you know how awesome a place it is. If you have not, then come see what its all about. Just know that you do not want to miss this regatta.

Saturday Sep 26 2026 we will start from the beach, race 11 miles North towards Redfish Island, round it, and race back to the Texas City D**e where we finish.

Sunday Sep 27 2026 is the Catamaran Conundrum. We launch directly from the d**e to start and you have 3 marks that you must round, in any order you like. Pick the right order as the wind blows and you could be this years winner.

Reach out to Scott Tuma, Greg Congdon or comment/message below with any questions that we can answer.

Looking forward to another great turnout this year!

We had a great turnout for the fun sail at the d**e yesterday. 15+ people, 3 dogs, and 5 boats. Wind was lovely and blowing from 8-12 knots. Hot dogs, great music, shade, and lots of sailing by all!
One of the beautiful things about the TCDYC group is the vast array of boats that show up. We had 2 Hobie 20’s, Hobie Getaway, Inter 17, and Frankenkitty (nobody actually knows that this monster is, part Prindle, tornado, hobie, Home Depot railing, chicken wing, you name it and it has a part on it). By joining us at the beach you can go for a sail on so many different boats.
Shoutout to Dave for seeing our post and coming to meet everyone for the first time. He got to sail on the famous Frankenkitty with Scott Tuma. I suspect Dave may be in the market for a boat soon and may have caught the fever.
Greg got to take 4 different people on a double trapeze ride on the Hobie 20, many for their first time on the wire. Brie, Naomi, Leah, and Cody were awesome crew to show the strength of the 20!
Several of us will be racing next weekend at the 100 miles long Ruff Riders race and were able to fine tune the boats in prep for that.
We had a long but great day! As I pulled away from the beach, we got to see a beautiful sunset while driving down the d**e.
Thank you to all that could make it and for a fantastic day!

Cheers!
Greg

🚨 🚨 🚨 Fun Sail Sat Aug 29 🚨 🚨 🚨

A few boats are heading to the Texas City D**e this Saturday Aug 29 for a final tune up for the upcoming Ruff Riders Regatta.

We will be 4.5 miles from the guard shack.

Wind looking light in the morning but should have some sea breeze in the afternoon.

Greg will bring his grill and cook some hot dogs for those interested and then hit the water for some hull flying action.

Give us a comment if you plan to make it so I know how many dogs 🌭 to bring.

I’ll probably be there around 9-10 to setup and stake out some ground for others.

You do NOT want to miss the upcoming Ruff Riders Regatta hosted by TCDYC! We will be sailing 100 miles from South Padre Island to Corpus Christi up the intercoastal canal over 2 days on Sept 5-6 2026! We camp on a beach in the intercoastal just over half way through the race where our generous sponsor Boqueron Rum will cook dinner for the participants. While this regatta will push you to your physical limits, this is an amazing adventure!

There are 8 boats signed up currently and you could be the next!

Contact Scott or Greg with any questions or concerns and don't miss this amazing event!
