When I sat down to write my chapter for Life’s Checkmark: Inspiring Journeys Beyond Life’s Expected Path, I didn’t expect it to bring back so many memories.

There are certain moments in life that change the way you see things. At the time, they may feel ordinary, difficult, or even confusing, but looking back, you realize how much they shaped the person you became.

I’m grateful to be sharing a piece of that journey alongside a group of remarkable coauthors. I can’t wait for this anthology to be released and for readers to experience the stories, insights, and lessons woven throughout its pages.

When I wrote this quote, I was thinking about how often we try to trust the future instead of trusting what can carry us through it.

“Trust is built by choosing where to place your weight when the future refuses to cooperate.”

Most of us have a picture of how life is supposed to unfold. We make plans. We set goals. We create expectations.

Then life happens.

Doors close.
Timelines change.
Unexpected challenges appear.

And suddenly the future is no longer cooperating with the story we had written in our minds.

What I have learned is that trust is not confidence that everything will go according to plan.

Trust is deciding where you will stand when the plan falls apart.

It is choosing faith over fear.
Purpose over panic.
Conviction over control.

This idea became one of the threads woven throughout *Life Checkmark: Inspiring Journeys Beyond Life’s Expected Path.*

Because some of the most meaningful journeys begin the moment life stops cooperating with our expectations.
