Stories.
We grew up on them. Bedtime stories, fairytales, the ones passed down without anyone meaning to pass them down.
But here’s the question I’ve been sitting with today—
What story am I keeping alive inside the stories I tell?
Because too often, something happens— someone doesn’t text back, a conversation goes sideways, a plan falls through— and we don’t respond to what actually happened. We respond to an old story that got triggered by it.
It sounds different for everyone.
I have to struggle to get by.
No one really listens to me.
I always give more than I receive.
These aren’t character flaws. Their stories— once that made sense at some point, ones that were probably even true once. But if you’re still running on them today, they’re not describing your life anymore.
They’re creating it.
You don’t have to burn the story down. He just have to notice you’re still reading it.
That’s where everything starts to shift.
