As Protex90 dries, it establishes a fine microscopic layer of barbs on the treated surface. When new bacteria is introduced, the barbs puncture the bacterial cell wall; resulting in a mechanical kill of the bacteria cell. Protex90 kills bacteria mechanically so there's no need for any of the harmful chemicals that are traditionally used in bacterial protectants today.
