September is Recovery Month. NCADD and the A&E Channel collaborate to sponsor an annual Recovery Walk. The first year, I was honored and delighted to represent Louisiana in a walk across the Brooklyn Bridge with hundreds of individuals in long-term (at least 10 years) recovery from addiction. Due to the media splashes about the revolving doors of stars' spa treatment episodes, the public is generally unaware that true, long-term recovery is occurring all around.
