Congratulations to Danarri Brown from Jackson High School, our Georgia High School Player of the Week presented by Alfa Insurance!

Danarri had a historic performance against Union Grove, as he rushed for 419 yards and NINE touchdowns in a 70-27 victory. No player has scored more than eight touchdowns in a game since 1948.

WELCOME TO THE RECORD BOOKS!

Two senior running backs put on an absolute TOUCHDOWN SHOW last week and carved their names into Georgia high school football history!

Dinarri Brown, Jackson
Brown scored an incredible NINE touchdowns in Jackson’s 70-27 victory over Union Grove, rushing for 419 yards in the process.

Donterrius Mincey, Toombs County
Mincey found the end zone SEVEN times in Toombs County’s 49-21 victory over Swainsboro, finishing with 255 rushing yards.

Just how rare is that?

Brown’s nine TDs are one shy of the reported Georgia single-game record of 10, set by Kenneth Moore of Calhoun against Acworth in 1948. Mincey joins an exclusive group of Georgia players to score seven or more touchdowns in a game.

Few names are more synonymous with Georgia high school football than Coach Dan Pitts.

Pitts spent 39 seasons at Mary Persons, compiling a remarkable 346-109-4 record, winning 15 region championships and leading the Bulldogs to the 1980 Class AA state championship.

His impact is still being celebrated today. This past Friday, Mary Persons High School unveiled a bust honoring Coach Pitts following renovations to Dan Pitts Stadium.

A Hall of Famer. A champion. A standard-setter.

Coach Dan Pitts didn’t just win football games. He helped shape the history of high school football in Georgia, and his legacy lives on in Forsyth. 🏆🏈
