Each season is a journey. From the time the prior season ends, through open fields, summer conditioning, figuring out who you have and what they bring to the team, pre-season practices, soccer everyday for two and a half months, hopefully longer, then start over. Each day is a step in that journey towards becoming a better team by the end.

But it's also important to take a step back occasionally, to take stock of where you're at in the bigger picture.

Last night's win wasn't just a step in this year's journey. It was a milestone for the program. For the past 8 years, dozens of players have come through this program, worked just as hard as the current group, taken the lumps night in and night out and didn't see a whole lot of results on the scoreboard. But there was always the promise that their work was laying the foundation for future success. Last night's win was one step towards fulfilling that promise.

So to all of those who came before us, who put in the work, who sacrificed, who built this program, thank you.
