What an awesome day The Real TO Rotary Street Fair talking all about the Turkey Day Dash! It was great meeting so many existing Five07 and Dash fans and creating a few new ones.

While we were there, we invited a few kiddos to audition for the role of our official TDD mascot. 🦃🦃

If you think you’ve got what it takes to don the turkey suit come race day… let us know. Talent search is underway! 🎤

🚨SPONSOR SHOUTOUT🚨

The safety and well-being of all Dash participants is paramount ... that's why we count on AMR Ventura County to provide first-aid services on race day.

As our local emergency medical services provider 🚑, AMR/Gold Coast is dedicated to delivering rapid, compassionate pre-hospital care and life-saving support around the clock. Beyond answering 911 calls across our region, their team of EMTs and paramedics actively invests in community safety through standby event medicine and outreach.

We are immensely grateful to have their skilled professionals back on site keeping our Turkey Day Dash 🦃 runners and families safe this Thanksgiving morning.

📸 FRIDAY FLASHBACK 📸

2023: takes Thousand Oaks by storm!

After three consecutive Thanksgivings without a 5K, the Dash 🦃 officially returned Nov. 23, 2023, under clear skies 🌞 and perfect 65-degree temps. Organized in just six months with essential support from original founder Southeast Ventura County YMCA and California Lutheran University, the inaugural Five07 Turkey Day Dash saw more than 2,000 runners and walkers show up—far exceeding our expectations.

In fact, the late registration rush forced Eastwind Screenprint to come through with an emergency batch of last-minute shirts so no one went without. There were other learning curve moments (shoutout to anyone who survived that first day of packet pickup at Road Runner Sports 😬), but race day, miraculously, went off without a hitch.

Heartfelt gratitude to the "first few" who helped preserve this tradition for a new generation of Dashers: Amber and Sean of Five07: The Coffee Bar and Eatery, Gerritt Beatty, Elizabeth Zernick, Paul Lopez, Robin Britt, Sue Cristea of Pedals & Pints Brewing Company, Holly Saari and Janelle Achenbach of Los Robles Regional Medical Center. Most are still working with us today!

Join this amazing story and register before it's too late.

🚨 SPONSOR SHOUTOUT 🚨

Another original sponsor, Thousand Oaks Acorn 🐿 continues to be the glue that holds the community together. The paper is a crucial conduit of Dash-related news and information, including spreading the word about the Zachary Zernik Memorial Scholarship and our three worthy causes.

Their generous contribution of advertising space helps ensure residents old and new get the chance to join our story and start their own Thanksgiving morning fitness tradition. 🦃

🚨SPONSOR SHOUTOUT🚨

When a group of Thousand Oaks residents 🌳 and a coffee shop (Five07: The Coffee Bar and Eatery) got together in early 2023 with the crazy idea of resurrecting the Dash, they knew they couldn't do it without the support of local businesses.

The very first to step up with a donation: Athens Services !

Since taking over T.O. waste-hauling responsibilities ♻ in 2021 , Athens has set the bar for what it means to be a good corporate citizen. Their team is everywhere in the community, backing charitable efforts of every shape and size.

Not only does Athens support the Dash financially, they provide waste and recycling services on race day, and several of their employees take part in the 5K, including Sales Director Matt Trouts, a 30-year resident of the Conejo Valley.

We wouldn't be where we are today without Athens and we're proud to call them a member of the Dash family. 🦃

Every dollar raised by the Turkey Day Dash goes to benefit three local nonprofits making a major impact in the region. So who are they?

This week we're highlighting Kiwanis Club of Thousand Oaks. This tireless service club has been with us from Year 1, providing the volunteers who stuff bags, run packet pickup and make sure race day goes off without a hitch.

In the community, Kiwanians are everywhere, lending their helping hands — and pancake-making prowess — to charitable causes big and small. Their primary mission is to inspire local youth toward community stewardship through hands-on service projects and leadership training. From an early age, these young people develop compassion, confidence and a heart for service, everything they need to positively shape the future. Kiwanis also awards scholarships to high school graduates pursuing higher education.

The club meets every Wednesday morning at Los Robles Greens. Kiwanis' next big fundraiser, Corks and Kegs, is next week on Thursday, Oct. 8. Find out more at https://corks-and-kegs.com/

🚨 NEW SPONSOR ALERT 🚨

And it's a big one...

We're excited to announce that Hampton Inn & Suites Agoura Hills has signed on as our first-ever Title Sponsor! Their financial commitment will do wonders for our community-driven event and its ability to raise funds for our three nonprofit partners: Hospice of the Conejo, Scouting America Ventura County and Thousand Oaks Kiwanis Club Foundation. 🦃🏃🦃🏃

We stopped by yesterday to thank General Manager Grace Strasser for her decision to back the Dash, and to check out their awesome facility at 30255 Agoura Road, just off the 101 Freeway at Reyes Adobe Drive. We'll be sharing much more about this Hampton by Hilton location in the coming weeks, but suffice to say, if you've got family in town for Thanksgiving ... this is your spot! 🏨🏨
