LJW Custom Calls

It’s been a long year for my wife and myself, but I finally was able to spend a little time in the shop !

Two calls Dave and I finished. One goes to the Mid-Shore Chapter for their Banquet in October and the other is for a client. Both bodies are Sapele, the call on the left has Bubinga lid and base the other has purple heart lid and base. Well folks, it’s a wrap in South Dakota. Another great hunt even with severe winds and a lot of rain. Tim and I managed to tag out with a double to finish the hunt after our first two birds. Because of the frequent rain and with wind one day that was 50 mph sustained with 70 mph gusts we managed to get it done. The two birds that we doubled on were nice. Tims bird was 21.5 lbs, 1 1/2 inch spurs with 9.25 inch beard. My bird was 19 lbs, 1 3/8 inch spurs with 9.75 inch beard.

Morning at 5:50 AM and I got lucky this afternoon and harvested my bird at 5:50 PM. Both birds weighed in at 20 pounds. South Dakota did not let us down. Such beautiful country and friendly people. Montana is next.

Some lid work finished yesterday. Now on to checking some bodies!

Finished these lids yesterday. I’m almost ready to start using them on some bodies and hopefully find some Turkey in them !
