Can women with osteoporosis really lift heavy weights?

The LIFTMOR study produced some impressive results and challenged the old idea that women with low bone density should simply avoid heavy lifting…

But some important details often get left out…

Participants were screened…

Closely supervised and progressively prepared for heavy training…

While strength training can play an important role in bone health…

There's more to staying strong and reducing fall risk than lifting weights alone.

That bigger picture is how we approach training at Fit Alliance,

We meet you where you are,

Progressively build strength,

While also working to develop balance, coordination, and power for the things you want to keep doing outside the gym.

We took a deeper look at what LIFTMOR study really tells us in our newest blog.

When Claudia decided to start strength training, she knew she wanted more than a traditional gym membership.

She wanted knowledgeable coaching…

Education…

Personal attention…

and a plan that reflected her goals and concerns...

A friend’s recommendation led her to Fit Alliance.

What she found was a smaller, community-based gym where coaches took the time to ask why she was there, review her goals, answer her questions, check her form, and continue following up on her progress.

As Claudia explains, it doesn’t feel like a big-box gym with a generalized fitness plan.

It feels personal…

Watch her story to hear why that difference matters.

If you’ve been looking for a supportive place to get stronger without feeling lost or intimidated, visit our website or send us a message. We’d be happy to answer your questions.

Power isn’t just for athletes.

And it’s definitely not something we should automatically stop training as we get older.

We talk a lot about strength as we age and for good reason. But there’s another piece of the puzzle….

how quickly you can use that strength.

That’s POWER.

Think about catching yourself when you stumble,

reacting quickly to something unexpected, moving confidently,

or keeping up with the activities you enjoy.

That’s why you’ll see exercises like these rotational medicine ball throws at Fit Alliance.

The goal isn’t to make everyone train like a 20-year-old athlete. It’s to find appropriate ways to keep training the qualities that help us stay capable and athletic throughout life.

The exercise might look different from person to person. The weight might change. The speed might change. The coaching might change.

The goal stays the same!

Think having scoliosis means you can’t strength train?

Not at all.

Today, one of our coaches worked with someone who has scoliosis and walked her through a decompression stretch that’s built into her program.

That’s the key...

At Fit Alliance, we don’t expect people to fit into our workouts. We adapt the program to fit the person.

Whether you’re dealing with scoliosis, arthritis, a joint replacement, or just haven’t exercised in years, the goal is the same:

Help you move safely

Build confidence

AND get stronger over time.

We recently put together a blog that explains our approach to exercising with scoliosis and answers some of the most common questions we hear.

If you’d like to learn more, you’ll find it on our website

And if you’ve been putting off exercise because you weren’t sure where to start……shoot us a message and we would love to show you what’s possible.

At 83, one thing Dennis knows is that staying active doesn’t happen by accident.

He was looking for knowledgeable coaches, consistency, and a place where he felt comfortable walking through the door.

Today, he says Fit Alliance feels like family.

Take a minute to hear his story.

If you’ve been thinking about getting started but aren’t sure where to begin, send us a message or visit our website.

We’d love to answer your questions😎

Strength isn’t about lifting the heaviest weight.

It’s about lifting the right weight for you.

That’s why we recently held a Strength Testing Workshop at Fit Alliance.

The goal wasn’t to see who could lift the most…

It was to help our members make sure they’re training with the right weights.

When strength training is matched to where you are…

Progresses as you get stronger…

The results can be incredible.

One of the best examples of this is Lyn.

A little over three years ago, Lyn joined Fit Alliance because she wanted to stay healthy, get stronger, keep rowing, and make everyday life a little easier.

Whether it was climbing stairs, reaching overhead, carrying things around the house, improving her balance, or simply staying active, she wanted a body that could keep up with the life she wanted to live.

She started where many people do, deadlifting around 15–20 pounds with a dumbbell.

Over time, as Lyn got stronger, her training progressed with her.

Today, she’s over 70 years old and can deadlift more than 160 pounds!

But that’s not what impresses us most.

What impresses us is that she’s still rowing.

Still traveling…

Still getting on and off the floor with confidence…

Still reaching overhead…

Still showing up twice every week…

Plus, she’s still working toward getting stronger.

That’s what strength training is really about.
It’s not about chasing bigger numbers.

It’s about building the strength to keep saying yes to the life you want to live.

We’re incredibly proud of Lyn, not just for how much she can lift, but for the consistency, determination, and encouragement she brings to our Fit Alliance community.

If you’ve ever wondered if you’re too old to start strength training, Lyn is proof that you don’t have to start where someone else is.

You just have to start where you are.
