Been busy lately but here’s a little highlight of our first camp of the summer! Day in the life of our surf campers! 😎☀️🤗

Top 3 Reasons You’re Struggling to Get Barreled 🌊
1️⃣ Choosing the wrong wave
Not all waves are created equal. Most surfers can’t spot the difference between an average wave and a true barreling wave. Barrel waves have a certain look — a certain thickness, energy, and way they approach the sandbar or reef.
And it’s not always about size.
Some of the best barrel waves almost look like they’re rising up from below sea level before they pitch. Experience helps, but even lifelong surfers struggle with wave selection.
The biggest mistake? Impatience.
Most surfers spin and go too early… then look back and realize the wave they actually wanted is breaking right behind them.
2️⃣ Poor positioning before the takeoff
Most people think they’re missing barrels because they didn’t paddle hard enough or because they were too late.
Usually, that’s not the real problem.
The real issue is takeoff position.
Most surfers try to take off right at the peak, then panic stall just to survive the drop. Either they fall immediately, or they generate too much speed and never truly get under the curtain.
The key is taking off slightly behind the peak and drawing your line underneath it as the wave folds over you.
When your positioning is right:�✔️ You don’t need to over-paddle�✔️ You don’t need aggressive stalls�✔️ You naturally set the correct line
At that point, stalling becomes style and control — not survival.
3️⃣ You’re not claiming your wave hard enough 😂🤙
(Everybody knows claiming adds at least 10% more tube time.)
