One of the safest places a child can find is the presence of a parent they trust.
I had hip surgery a few weeks ago, and even though I was still healing and still moving slower than usual.
But none of that changed what my son needed in that moment.
He didn't need me to be at 100%.
He didn't need me to have all the answers.
He just needed my presence.
As parents, we often put pressure on ourselves to do more, give more, and be more. But sometimes the greatest gift we can offer our children is simply being a safe place to land.
Use this as a reminder that no matter what life throws at them, there is someone they can come to for comfort, love, and security.
Jerrika Speaks
Where self-discovery meets fulfillment.
Through storytelling, faith-centered reflections, and honest conversations, Jerrika inspires women to rediscover who they are, embrace personal growth, and create lives rooted in purpose, clarity, and fulfillment.
Women choosing to be single and childless are getting a lot of hate right now… but honestly, as a married woman with children, I understand it.
Because having a family is a responsibility. Marriage is a responsibility. Children are a responsibility.
And if a woman is being honest enough to say, “I’m not ready for that,” whether it’s mentally, emotionally, selfishly, or because she wants to travel and experience life first… I actually respect that more than forcing herself into a life she secretly resents.
Everybody is not called to the same timeline. Everybody is not in the same season. And honestly, self-awareness is better than pretending.
Because children deserve to be loved fully. Partnerships deserve intentionality. And if someone knows they’re not ready to carry that responsibility yet, we should normalize honesty instead of shaming it.
Where self-discovery meets fulfillment.
What happens when God forgives you… but you don’t forgive yourself?
Sometimes the hardest person to give grace to is ourselves. We replay the mistakes, the decisions, the seasons we wish we handled differently, and we continue punishing ourselves for versions of us that were still learning.
But healing requires honesty.
What have you not forgiven yourself for?
Because you cannot fully walk into freedom while holding yourself hostage to your past. God already extended grace… now it’s time to learn how to extend it to yourself.
