OMI, Kempo and our martial arts community lost a friend and an asset Saturday evening August 6th when Master Jason Walker and his wife Pam lost their lives on their motorcycle.
OTTAWA LAKE — An Erie, Mich. couple were killed Saturday night when their motorcycle was struck head-on by an oncoming car. Jason A. Walker, 42, and his passenger and wife, Pamela L. Walker, 42, both were pronounced dead at the scene. According to Monroe County Sheriff's deputies, Mr. Walker was westbound on Consear Road west of Whiteford Center Road about 10:20 p.m. when an eastbound car driven by a 55-year-old Riga, Mich. man drove into the westbound lane in an attempt to pass another eastbound vehicle. The car and motorcycle collided in the westbound lane. The other motorist, whose name was not released Sunday, was taken to ProMedica Toledo Hospital, where deputies said he was in stable condition. Both Mr. and Mrs. Walker were wearing helmets at the time of the crash, which remains under investigation by the Monroe County Sheriff's Office.
Master Jason A. Walker had over 32 years of Tang Soo Do Korean Karate experience (instructing for 8) with a lineage through Master Hwang Kee. He was honored to be selected to continue Monroe Aspiring Martial Artists when his successor, Merry Garrett, retire in 2012. His son Nathan had also earned his black belt and assisted Master Walker during class.
