During our preseason planning, it has come to our attention that Washington Local intends to move all of the WLYA’s youth basketball games to the new Whitmer Middle School. In previous years, based on the number of young athletes who have participated in our league, three courts were needed to get through the day in a timely, safe, and efficient manner. Although we are excited to use this new facility, we are only able to use two of their three courts safely for all participating players and spectators in attendance. Using all three courts would not leave sufficient room for players, spectators, or our game workers and scoreboard tables.

With that being said, because the high school is no longer available to us, we have to make the unfortunate and heartbreaking announcement that we will be eliminating our 3rd/4th grade division for both girls and boys this season. This reduction of teams will allow us to safely use two courts at Whitmer Middle School while also being able to have sufficient seating for all spectators in attendance.

Anyone who has already registered a 3rd or 4th grader will be receiving a FULL REFUND. We sincerely apologize for this inconvenience, and we hope to one day be able to bring youth basketball to the Washington Local community at an earlier age in the future.

ATTENTION COACHES!
Sorry for the notice but we are moving the coaches meeting to Sunday at noon at the Suder Fields. Reason being is we would like to have everyone come out and support the Whitmer soccer team on Thursday. It is not mandatory that you take your team but let them know if they would like to go.
NO MEETING THURSDAY. MEETING IS ON SUNDAY AT NOON.

OK everyone, because of the overwhelming response, we are extending sign-ups for one more week. Get the word out that this is the last week, and sign-ups will end next Sunday. Get them in now!!!
We are trying to get teams formed, schedules done, and order uniforms. Thanks
