❗️Deadlifts are another great excerise everyone can benefit from but unfortunately many people either feel pain or have hurt themselves at some point while trying to do them.

Here are 3 tips to help improve your deadlifts & protect your lower back.

1. Make sure you are hinging/bending at the hips & not rounding at your back. Once you feel your hamstring stretch STOP & do not force the movement further. Listen to your body.

2. Use your GLUTES!🍑 Your glutes job is to extend at the hips & if you aren’t using them to do that your body will find other ways to do so which usually results in the lower back doing more work then we would like.

3. Engage your core! That doesn’t just mean flex your abs/“six pack” but everything surrounding your spine. Make your torso stiff & brace.

These are the 3 big changes we usually make with clients to introduce them to deadlifts or anytime they feel pain in their lower backs while doing the exercise & within minutes they are deadlifting comfortably & pain free.

These fixes will obviously not work for every single person out there & like always there are outliers but generally for beginners or intermediate these work great. 🤝
