Here are the 14 entries in the 2023 Sika Challenge at Canalfest. Congratulations to all the participants. Well done!!

The Sika Builders Board is finished and ready for the Seaworthiness Trials, tonight a 6pm, on the canal. Come on down and cheer on your favorite boat. The boats will be on display from 5-6 pm on the lawn of the Long Homestead. We start drawing heats at 5:15, and the racing starts at 6! Hope to see you there ww.canalfest.org

Here is one of this year’s entries, being ready for tomorrow’s Sea Worthiness trials.  Stick around after the arts and craft show, grab a bite to eat, and pick a spot on the canal. The fun gets underway at 6 PM. www.canalfest.org.

The Sika Challenge got to take a break tonight, because there were no builders scheduled. That gave us a rare opportunity to walk around Canal Fest and enjoy the sights, sounds, and tastes of the Car Cruise. We will be back tomorrow night building boats, in anticipation of the Seaworthiness Trials, Saturday at 6pm. We still have a couple of slots for builders available. A few more boats being built tonight, along with an Erie and smokey sunset along the Erie Canal (pun intended). A few spots remain for teams that are willing to showcase their boat building and sailing skills. See the website www.canalfest.org for details.
