This is a tough one to read but it’s so brutally truthful 💔🥺

We as parents & grandparents only want to help support our dancers on the journey;

only sometimes we can become their worst critics without even realizing it.

Let’s try to Be more mindful of the things we say either to our dancers or around them because they’re under enough pressure as it is without any of us putting our added weight upon their shoulders.

We want what’s best and we hope, wish and dream for their absolute chance to shine and sometimes we will do anything to make that happen for them.

We as the adults in the room need to take a pause and reflect on what they ultimately really want from us is - I JUST LOVE YOU AND LOVE WATCHING YOU DANCE comments instead of the dreaded car ride home with the 20 questions.

LESS PRESSURE.
MORE SAFE SPACE.

LESS JUDGEMENT.
MORE UNCONDITIONAL LOVE.

LESS EXPECTATIONS IN RESULTS.
MORE PRIDE IN THEIR EFFORTS.

We can do this! Let’s be a great support system to our dancers not the problem they are trying avoid or fix.

🥹❤️ SENIOR SUNDAY 2027 | MY PELPY ❤️

My very first Senior Sunday of the 2027 season goes to MY PELPY — as little 2-year-old Aubs used to call her! 🥹❤️

Jessica “Pelkey” has been part of our dance family since her little-girl days at The Dance Spot, and after over a DECADE of memories, there’s no way I could fit our story into one post! So get ready for LOTS of senior throwbacks this year! 😭❤️

Today is extra special because chose to honor her love of dance by recreating her very first duet as the BIG dancer, this time with as her little! 🥹

And the story behind these two? MY HEART! ❤️

I’ll never forget a rehearsal in Alma when 10-ish-year-old Pelkey was trying to find the perfect spot to watch the older girls dance, while little preschooler Aleyx followed her EVERYWHERE, mimicking her every move! 😂❤️

When Jess finally noticed her tiny shadow, she didn’t get annoyed. She scooped little Aleyx up and put her right in her lap so she could watch the big girls dance. 🥹😭

And NOW… that once-little dancer is the BIG, sharing the stage with the little girl who once looked up to her so much. 😭❤️

Today I sit in the lobby, tears streaming down my face, listening to Pelkey’s original duet music and watching this beautiful full-circle moment unfold.

THIS is why I love what I do! ❤️ It’s not just about trophies and titles. It’s about the friendships, the memories, and watching these kids grow up through dance.

I’m so thankful I’ve captured so many of these moments in my heart AND my vlogs. 🎥❤️

My Pelpy, I’m not sure my heart is ready for your senior year, but I cannot wait to celebrate YOU! 🥹❤️
