Reapers Baseball

As many have probably heard, or have seen the emotional posts.....the Reapers Era has indeed come to an end. It breaks my heart along with everyone else who is a part of this organization, from siblings who are best buds to parents night out, to players sleepovers to grandparents breakfast get togethers.....to come to terms with it! It has been a fun, trying, successful ride! These boys came together-most as strangers just about four years ago and soon built an unbreakable brotherhood! They have put their blood sweat and tears into this team and it showed every step of the way. They all left their hearts on the field in every game possible! The trips to Columbia, Omaha, Topeka, Memphis, all around Kansas and Missouri to play in tournaments and show people what Reapers baseball was all about---priceless! Memories were made on and off the field--something we hope these boys and families will cherish for a lifetime! The boys claimed several 1st and 2nd Place trophies over the years--10 to be exact, the boys have made some ESPN type plays, hit homeruns, thrown shutouts, have gotten beaten a few times but always got up to fight back and win by a spread in the next one! Coach DJ and Coach Daryl had a dream to make a successful, respectful, good, solid kick ass baseball team and I'd say they made that dream come true! Being married to the Coach was not always the easiest job-but it allowed me to be the Mom-ager and get to know every single family and take care of them and things on the team that needed to be done! Sure it was hectic at times but it was definitely worth every moment!! I want to personally thank every one of our fans who followed us on GC, who contributed through fundraising or who took time to wish these boys well and success in their seasons. You truly have no idea how much it means!! The last few days we have all said how we can go on and on for days about different memories throughout the years--this is no different--I could talk forever about just how awesome it was. Reapers family is the best around--Reapers family is Forever!! FTR on 3........FEAR THE REAPERS!!!

On a side note--these boys are trying to stay together as much as possible through different HS prep teams--Remember their names--I promise you will see them all again!! And of course they are forever friends off the field!! The journey will not stop here.........

Congratulations to Hunter Tidwell--Our Honorary Reaper(see previous posts about why/how he became an honorary reaper) who was given the chance to bat today as the very last batter. The game was over by Reapers spread winning 10-0. However-- the Opposing team.....the Bandits were more than willing to let Hunter "play" in the 2017 13u World Series! Their team took the field just like any other normal inning, the umps took their position just like any other inning, Hunter stepped into the box, fouled a couple off, then smacked the ball to the outfield!! Outfielder bobbled it, threw it to second-he missed it, Hunter was rounding third and headed home, with all his Reapers teammates waiting for him!! He was safe!! An in the park homerun!! Not sure if there was a dry eye on either teams bleachers! We cant thank the Bandits team enough, yet another group of 13yr olds who accepted and understood, for allowing this kid to get a real at bat in a game and to "act" out the real game scenario! The umpire then gave Hunter his homerun ball and a nomination to play in the Mo/Kan All State Showcase! It was a class act by all involved! It was awesome! Something we hope he will truly never forget! Way to Go Hunter!!

Reapers start World Series festivities tonight at Fountain Bluff!! Opening ceremonies and skills comps!! Tomorrow games are 4pm and 8pm and Friday games are 2pm and 6pm!! Meet Hunter Tidwell---Our 2017 Honorary Reaper. Hunter is really good life long friends with #44 Jax Byers, and soon became friends with the entire team, coaches, and fans. Hunter-at a young age was diagnosed with a developmental disorder, one that unfortunately would keep him from doing things most young men love doing--playing baseball!! He would always tell Jax that his dream was to be a Reaper, to feel like a part of something, to be a part of the brotherhood that he saw Jax have. Without hesitation the coaches agreed to sign on Mr Hunter as our dugout leader, a bat boy, a warm up the outfielder guy, during games. During practices he got to catch fly balls, do batting practice and let me tell you he did everything with the biggest smile on his face and he hustled ALL the time. As parents we watched our boys accept this kid into the dugout and treat him like he has been there for years, joking around, laughing, cheering. It was an awesome thing to see a group of 13yr old boys do. Our parents and fans made sure Hunter was a part of every on and off the field experience there was from parties, bringing back souvenirs from Memphis, making sure he got the last trophy/medal during championship games at tournaments, and making lifelong memories we hope that he and his family will cherish forever!! Thank u Hunter for being a part of our season and a part of our team this year---you have truly been a blessing and have taught us all that no matter what you do in life or how difficult life may be--Always do it with a smile on your face!! Fear the Reapers!!!

After a couple rain delays and a maybe we will stay on the field while it strikes lightning-- the Summer Sizzler was called due to the weather. Reapers finish in the top 5 of the tournament!! Great job this weekend boys! Safe travels to all our families headed home!! Go Reapers!!

The Reapers added to their hardware collection this weekend, bringing home 2nd place in the NIT All Turf Tournament in Topeka. Great Job Boys!
