Consortium for Ocean Leadership, the organization that facilities the National Ocean Sciences Bowl (NOSB), is closing. As such, they are working on finding NOSB a new organizational home. In the interim, the regional bowls, including Sea Lion Bowl, will be postponed until further notice while decisions are made and NOSB staff have the opportunity to re-imagine and find support for the program.
NOSB staff and regional coordinators are confident the competition will return stronger, however there will be no Sea Lion Bowl competition in 2023. CSUMB was already in the process of planning to transfer Sea Lion Bowl regional coordination to Cal Maritime , so we anticipate that when Sea Lion Bowl returns, our excellent collaborators at Cal Maritime will be at the helm.
Thank you all for being such a wonderful community for Sea Lion Bowl over the years, and for your dedication to supporting K-12 engagement with ocean science. We hope that you will all be able to participate again when the Sea Lion Bowl returns!
