Yesterday was our 11th anniversary. So in keeping with the tradition of doing something new or going somewhere new, we did something new. We married our best friends. I am so happy that I get to spend the rest of my life with you and so excited for our future.

I tried surfing for the first time today. Almost stood up a couple of times and got launched into an underwater front flip once. It was challenging but it’s always fun trying something new!

Toe shoes aren’t the most popular but I love them. I used to make fun of them but they’re really comfortable and though I might not be able to run as far in them, I feel so much faster than in my running shoes.

However, they do take getting used to. If you’re used to wearing regular shoes, your feet likely won’t be strong enough to handle them for more than a couple of hours at a time. Once they do, your feet will be stronger, healthier and feel better.

It’ll also improve your body going upwards. I mainly noticed this in my lower back hip flexors.

They may take a while to get used to but I believe they’re worth it. I now wear these as everyday shoes and workout shoes (unless I’m doing long distance walking or running).

Have you ever tried a minimalist or toe shoe? Would you?

P.S. - If you ever decide to try a shoe like this, do some research on how to get started. Or just ask!

Better now than later

Working out can tough. Sometimes I don’t feel like doing it either.

You are voluntarily suffering when you push yourself.

However, I’d rather suffer now on my own accord than when I’m older because of poor health.

At least this form of suffering feels good after and improves your life…

Pushing yourself to become stronger, faster, healthier will help to protect your body and mind in the future as well as allow you to enjoy your body.

It’s harder to enjoy your later years when your body is falling apart and you are anchored down by weakness or poor health.

You don’t have to constantly push your limits either. All you have to do is push for progress.

Exercise is an investment in your life that you can reap immediate benefits from.

It’s never too late. Start investing now!

Learn to brace!

Any exercise, when done properly, will become a core exercise.

One of the purposes of your core muscles is to stabilize the spine.

Bracing will not only protect your spine through stabilization, but also strengthen your core.

This is especially true when lifting heavier weights.

This is doesn’t mean you should stop doing other core strengthening exercises.

Instead, treat every exercise like a core exercise and you will become stronger and safer.

Here’s a tip to burn more calories: every hour, get up and move.

It doesn’t have to be anything crazy.

It can be as simple as a walk down the hall or even marching in place.

The point is to get up and do something.

This will lead to burning more calories and improving your blood flow which can improve your efficiency at work!
