Hey! New episode of the podcast is out now! This one is the first in a 6 part series called "The Mechanism."

Look, everyone has a master. Its not always an obvious one, nor is it always a positive one. The question isn't whether something rules you, it's if you actually know what that something is.

The first stop for this series is: Desire

Stop skipping leg extensions. 👇

If you’ve had knee surgery, an injury, or chronic knee pain, you might have heard that leg extensions are "bad for your knees." That’s outdated advice. Whether you're post-op or dealing with daily wear and tear, open-chain leg extensions are a game-changer. Here’s why:

🔥 1. Pure Quad Isolation
When your knee hurts, your brain turns down the signal to your quad (arthrogenic muscle inhibition). Squats and leg presses let your glutes and hamstrings cheat and take over. Leg extensions lock your hips in place, leaving your quads nowhere to hide.

🪑 2. Hits the Re**us Femoris (The Bi-Articular Quad) Squats barely grow the middle of your quad (re**us femoris) because it crosses both the hip and knee joint. Being seated with fixed hips allows the machine to isolate and stretch this specific muscle for max strength and hypertrophy.

🦵 3. Fixes the "Quad Lag"
Can’t get your leg completely straight on your own? That’s quad lag—and it’s why people limp. Leg extensions target that final lock-out range so you can restore normal gait mechanics.

⚡ 4. High Muscle Growth, Low Joint Compression
Heavy squats put full body weight down through the joint. Extensions let you load the quad directly without crushing sensitive cartilage under vertical weight.

🩸 5. Essential for Chronic Pain & Joint Inflammation. It’s not just for post-op rehab. If you suffer from chronic knee pain, osteoarthritis, or inflammation, heavy compound loading can trigger flare-ups. Leg extensions allow you to safely build the "quad armor" needed to absorb shock and decompress the joint—without the wear and tear of heavy axial loads.

Don't skip leg extentions. 💪🏽

Hi 👋🏼 I'm Coach E!! I am a personal trainer and a functional training specialist at Say Cheese and Lift Studio.
Listen, I’ve started over more times than I can count. 🏋🏽‍♀️✨
When people see a fitness trainer, they often assume progress is a straight line. But behind my workouts is a long, personal battle with connective tissue disease—defective collagen, flare-ups, and starting from baseline over and over again.

Getting genetic testing (through S.C.A.L. Wellness) changed the game. It revealed the root causes—from choline deficits to structural collagen issues causing constant immune cleanup—that were burning in the background.

Finding those answers changed my health, but it transformed my coaching even more.
When you walk in feeling exhausted or frustrated by a body that isn't cooperating, I get it. I don't see someone who's unmotivated; I see someone fighting an invisible battle.

Real strength isn't "no pain, no gain." It’s body literacy, smart adaptation, and refusing to give up when your body forces a restart. Modifying isn't failing, and slow progress is still progress.

Listen to your body, give it what it needs, and keep showing up. 💪🏽🔥

They first stop listening. Then they stop thinking. And finally, they stop caring. When a doctor stops doing the first one, the other two go with it. The doctors become one with a broken system. That's a choice. And the good doctors already know this about the bad ones.
