It’s time to meet another of our awesome staff members who join us in the summer on break from college! We truly appreciate everything that our team members do for us across all of our departments!!

Hello, my name is Reid Hearn. I am from Taylors, South Carolina and I went to Blue Ridge High School. I am currently a sophomore at Clemson majoring in financial management. I work with the maintenance crew at cherokee valley. What I enjoy most about being a team member at Cherokee Valley is being part of a group of people that take pride in providing the best golf course we can for our members and guests. I also love the fact that the entire staff here looks out for one another and will always be there if I ever need help. I come back every year, because I learn so many new skills at the job. We do a little bit of everything here at maintenance, so you are always doing something new and interesting. I also simply love the game of golf, so getting to come out and play the course that I help shape everyday is truly a blessing.

We are always honored to have employees work for us during high school and then make their way to college. What is an even bigger honor is for them to come back for the summer during their college career! Meet Kody! He works in for us in The Shop and as a cart attendant!

Hello, my name is Kody Bartel. I am from Greenville, South Carolina, and I graduated from Riverside High School in 2025. I am currently a sophomore at the University of Alabama, where I am studying aerospace engineering. My role at Cherokee Valley includes both inside and outside golf operations. What I enjoy most about working at Cherokee Valley is the strong sense of family among the employees. Everyone is always willing to help one another to ensure that our work gets done efficiently. One of the main reasons I wanted to return is the valuable connections I can build while working at the course. These connections can benefit my future, and the experience has already helped me meet many great people.

Let our 6,500-pound Italian wood-fired pizza oven do the cooking! The whole family gets a slice of our Neapolitan Pizza, loaded with fresh Mozzarella. House Red Sauce. Fresh Basil. Olive Oil. Fresh Cracked Black Pepper. We even set the table!

Thank you to all our residents and members for multiplying the need that was on Ella’s heart to assist one of her teachers from Travelers Rest High School who is from Venezuela. The generosity will help fill a need to so many that are recovering from the devastating earthquakes.
