Happy WHO DEY SUNDEY!!!

This will be our last communication regarding the Lady Cougars Select League before we move our focus to our younger Lady Cougars in PreK–2nd grade.

We have incredible numbers for the upcoming season, and we are excited to make Edgewood proud! There are a few important announcements and updates we need everyone to be aware of before Tuesday and Thursday open gyms. Please read through the entire post so we are all on the same page moving forward.

Team Size & Development
Each team will carry a minimum of 8 players and a maximum of 10 players. Our goal will always be to have two teams at each grade level whenever possible. This allows us to develop all of our Lady Cougars while giving them the opportunity to play competitive basketball. Please understand that forming two teams depends on having enough parent support, volunteer coaches, and registered players. We will not turn a player away unless we simply do not have the numbers or coaching support needed to properly support another team.

Open Gym — Tuesday & Thursday
Location: Seven Mile Elementary School
Times: Please refer to the flyer for your daughter's grade-level time.
We will have approximately 45 minutes at the end of the 3rd/4th grade session and the beginning of the 5th/6th grade session available for parents who have questions. We will need to use the gym space during open gym, so the bleachers will not be out. Parents are welcome to stay and watch. Important: Please keep siblings at home and out of the hallways during open gym.

Current Numbers by Grade
3rd Grade: We have enough players for one full team and are only a few girls away from reaching the 10-player maximum.

4th Grade: WE NEED A COACH! We are currently one player away from having enough registrations to form two teams. However, we need another coach to make that possible. If we cannot find an additional coach, we may unfortunately have to limit the group and cut approximately 8–10 girls. If you are willing or interested in helping coach, please reach out as soon as possible.

5th Grade: WOW!!! We have two teams and coaches secured! We are extremely excited about the numbers and support at this grade level.

6th Grade: We currently have enough players for one full team, but we are still a ways away from having enough players to form two teams.

We are officially ONE WEEK away from our Select Girls Basketball Open Gym! 🏀

If your daughter is planning to try out for the Select season, now is the time to get registered! We ask that all girls attending open gym be registered for tryouts, which are coming up in just a few short weeks. This is one of our last opportunities to get all remaining players registered before we hit the court for tryouts.

Open gym is a great opportunity for the girls to get back on the court, get some work in, and get comfortable before tryouts. It is also the perfect time for parents to stop by and ask any questions about the tryout process, teams, uniforms, or the season ahead.

We are excited about the numbers we are seeing and can't wait to get the girls back on the court and get the season rolling!

🏀 We’re Still Looking for Coaches!
We are currently looking for White Team Head Coaches for 4th, 5th and 6th Grade.

Our registration numbers are looking very strong, and based on current interest, we anticipate being able to field two teams at each grade level, pending final registration numbers.

Edgewood Girls Basketball is giving our players a chance to get the basketball in their hands before tryouts! 💙🏀

If your daughter is registered for Edgewood Girls Select Basketball tryouts, come join us for a FREE Open Gym! This is a great opportunity to get some shots up, work on skills, get comfortable on the court, and shake off those pre-tryout nerves.
