Elk Meadows Ranch, founded in 1948 by Edna "Ma" Hill and her family. It started with the dream of seeing the majestic elk from her kitchen window. In 1961 she was highly instrumental along with the Noxon Rod and Gun club in obtaining and transplanting the first herd of 32 Elk from Yellowstone Park, those elk were planted on this very ranch. "Ma" was a very successful guide and outfitter in the mountains of northwestern Montana for 65 years. Her love of the elk grew to the point where she would buy semi truck loads of alfalfa hay during the harsh winters to help ensure the herds survival and well being. To this day the dream is still carried on by her son Billy Hill at Elks Meadows Ranch. In fact, her final request was for her ashes to be placed on the Ranch where the Big Bulls are known to bugle the most every year.
