Hey everyone,
We will have our first Tuesday meeting Tonight in LOW 4050 from 8-10, and our normal meeting Tomorrow in LOW 4050 from 6-8
Here are some current projects:
Bommerman AI - for the competition
If you want to learn AI but don't know where to start this is a good place and we can help you get started
AI Competition Server - A server to run AI competitions
Gothello AI - An agent to play a cross between Go and Othello
Chatbot - Create an agent to talk to
If you have other ideas we would be glad to help you and find other people to work with.
Hope to see everyone tonight,
Ethan Gertler
Our Next Meeting is Tuesday at 8-10pm in LOW 4040!
Hi all,
Quick reminder that we have a meeting today 5-7pm in CII 4050.
Plan for today is an intro to machine learning lecture (~10-20 minutes). Topics covered will be machine learning types, classification, and the perception learning algorithm (PLA) for classification. Then we will have a workshop session for you to implement PLA and work on a simple classification problem (~30-40 minutes). The rest of the time you could work on projects or the UPE AI competition.
Stop by if you get the chance!
Thank you,
Zishan
First off I would like to inform everyone that we are now an official Union Recognized Club!!
We have our second weekly meeting tonight at 6:00 in the Union room 3511, the same room as Tuesday.
Currently we have two active ongoing projects we are working on:
The RAIL AI game server - This is the software we will use to host various AI competitions in the future
A chatbot - pretty self-explanatory
We also have someone interested in donating a server, so if anyone would like to help us follow up on this lead that would be great.
There was a suggestion that we could collaborate with other clubs such as RPISEC and the Game Dev Club. I think this is a great idea and have talked to some people in the Game Dev Club and they would be happy to collaborate with us. Maybe we could have a joint workshop on game AI or something.
See everyone tonight
We have our first weekly Tuesday meeting tonight at 6:00 in the Union, room 3511.
I would like to discuss some things with everyone such as:
- Workshop ideas and getting people to run them
- Other events that we can organize (such as competitions, etc...)
- Finding a physical server to host our stuff
- Posters and advertising
- Finding active competitions
- The current state of the game server Tyler and I have on github
- Other things that the club needs
If you would like to help us grow the club, please try to make it to our meeting tonight.
If are interested in helping but don't think you can make it tonight please let us know, we would love any help you can offer.
I scheduled our weekly meetings every Tuesday and Saturday from 6:00 to 7:00 in room 3511 at the Union
We start on the Tuesday after spring break!
Don't forget about the RPS AI competition on Friday, March 11 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM in the Union room 2424 (Patroon)
Would anyone be interested in helping create and distribute posters to attract interest for the RPS AI Competition and league meetings? Or ideally write an AI to do this for us :p

We are trying to get the optimal times to schedule the club so the most people are available.
We think we may try to meet twice a week to try to accommodate everyone.
Please fill out this survey so we can best accommodate your schedules:

We have reserved a room for the RPS AI competition.
It is scheduled for Friday, March 11 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM in the Union room 2424 (Patroon)
We hope to start having regular meetings after the spring break.
RAIL has been granted provisional status! This is a good step in becoming a Union recognized club. In case you are curious what this means I'll take a quote from the email I got: "Provisional status will allow you to reserve rooms to continue to meet as we move towards full recognition."
This means we can have our first official non-interest gathering event! Simon and I have thought this over and we decided to start with a simple (or not so simple) Rock-Paper-Scissors AI challenge. At this event we will have 2 hours to create agents that play RPS against one another. Our goal for this challenge is to get everyone to work together to discuss and gather ideas for how to create such an agent.
I am going to create a RPS server using TCP/IP, so any language with the TCP/IP protocol can be used. We will provide templates in Python 2 for anyone who wants it, so you don't need to know network programming to join in on the fun. Also, since the goal is to work together you don't need to be good at programming either, you can just join up with someone else and work together (which is highly encouraged). This will be a great learning experience for novices and pros alike.
There are two calendars below. Please fill them both out so we can best schedule our events.

We will be holding our last scheduled Interest Meeting today at 6:00PM in the Union in room 3510.
We want to hear your input so please fill out the survey at http://goo.gl/forms/OEgz1F8s9D if you have any interest. Your opinions are important.
At the end of the meeting we may hold another small Golf Coding Competition in Python 2. The goal is to write code that satisfies the condition given, and whoever's code has the least number of characters wins. (if there is a tie then the person who submitted earlier wins)
So bring your laptops if you would like to participate.
See you then!
