Recap from The Wyndhurst Tournament, August 16, 2026

Our final tournament of the year turned out to be another great day with the weather. Wyndhurst on the Mirival Resort had a very interesting layout with a lot of narrow fairways but opened up on several holes to spectacular views.

Champ/Player flight – James MacKinnon from Rouses Point, NY put up a nice 44 on the front but was no match for Thomas Miles from Baldwinsville, NY who managed a 2 over 39. Tom continued his dominance on the back with a 3 over 37 on the back to win with a76. Tom received a $100 Gift Card for his win.

Hogan/Palmer Flight – Dan Giovannangelo from Schenectady, NY came out with a birdie on the first hole but Todd Blonder from Venice, FL with his steady play, managed a 4-stroke lead on the turn with a 40. Dan made a late run to close the gap but came up 2 strokes short as Todd posted 42 back and 82 total. Todd received a #120 Gift Card for his win.

Jones/Tiger Flight – Richard Giancola from Marlboro, MA took the lead after nine putting up a 45, just one stroke ahead of Dave Sheman from Ballston Spa, NY. Dave’s back nine of 39 sealed the deal as he went on the win by two strokes with an 85. Dave received a $120 Gift Card for the win and Richard received a $40 Gift Card for second.

Skins:
Champ/Player Flight Skins – Thomas Miles got two skins and James MacKinnon got one, picking up $20 for each skin.

Hogan/Palmer Flight Skins – Dan Giovannangelo and Todd Blonder each got one skin paying $50 for each.

Jones/Tiger Flight Skins – Dave Sherman and Jake Van Ness each got one skin paying $70 for each.

Giant Skins – James MacKinnon and Dan Giovannangelo each got one skin paying $50 for each.

US Am Tour Albany Region stop will land at Wyndhurst Golf and Club, 1894 Restaurant, Sloane's Tavern tomorrow, a historic 18-hole course built in 1926, winding through rolling hills and tree-lined fairways with jaw-dropping Berkshires views.

Recap from The Wiltwyck Tournament, August 10, 2026

Turned out to be a great day with the weather but a few guys found out how difficult this course can be. A great layout, reasonably steady greens and a beautiful day contributed to fun and exciting tournament.

Champ flight – Mike Hay from Port Chester, NY and Evan Hughes from Syracuse, NY played to a 41 tie on the front nine. Mike stumbled on the 15th hole with a double bogie but came right back with birdies on 16 & 17 only to fall short by one stroke. Evan continued steady play on the back with a 2 over 38. Evan finished with a 79 one stroke better than Mike. Evan received an $80 gift card for the win.

Player Flight – Bradley Schram from Westmorland, NY posted a 42 on the front to lead James MacKinnon from Rouses Point, NY by 4 strokes. Brad continued steady play on the back to win by 3 with total of 84. Brad received an $80 gift card for the win.

Hogan Flight – Todd Blonder from Venice, FL put up a 41 on the front nine to lead by only 1 over Dan Giovannangelo from Schenectady, NY. Dan caught fire on the back posting a 38 to win going away with a 80. Todd stumbled on the back but maintained enough momentum to finish second with 87 one stroke better than Mike Healy from Wappinger Falls, NY. Dan received a gift card for $120 for the win and Todd received a gift card for $60 for second.

Palmer Flight – Jon Balingit from Williston Park, NY, posted a front running 42 on the first nine to lead by 3 over Robert Kane from Whippany, NJ. Robert’s back nine of 41 fell short as Jon’s steady play of 39 on the back got him the win, posting an 81, 5 strokes over Robert. Jon received a $120 gift card for the win.

Jones Flight – David Sherman from Ballston Spa, NY, came out of the gate with a birdie on the second hole only to continue steady play and put up a 45 front nine, four strokes ahead of Arthur Penny from Flanders, NJ. Arthur’s back nine of 46 wasn’t enough as Dave hung on for a three stoke win with a total of 92. Dave received an $80 gift card for the win.

Tiger Flight – Jake Van Ness from Queensbury, NY, had steady play on the front posting a 46, five strokes better than Brandon Stricklett from Middle Bridge, NY. Jake and Brandon played to a 51-51 draw on the back nine giving Jake a five stroke win with his 97. Jake received a $100 gift card for the win.

Champ/Player Flight Skins - James MacKinnon got two and Evan Hughes had one, paying $27 for each skin.

Hogan/Palmer Flight Skins - John Balingit and Jon Laurent each had one paying $110 each.

Jones/Tiger Flight Skins – Dave Sherman was the only skin in the flight paying $100.

Giant Skins – James MacKinnon got two and Dan Giovannangelo, Jon Laurent, Evan Hughes, John Balingit and Dave Sherman each got one. For a total of 7 skins paying $23 each.

Re-cap from The Kaluhyat Classic, July 17, 2026

Unbelievably great weather. Seventies and sunny with just a little wind. The course was in spectacular shape as always and the play was superb.

Champ Flight – Kyle Sigmon from Chula Vista, CA came out of the gate flying with three birdies and an eagle on #6 to put up a two under 34 on the front. Finishing the back nine at one over for a 71. Greg Bubela from Toronto, ON battled along and got second with a one over 73. Kyle received a $100 gift for the win and Greg received a $20 gift card for second.

Senior Champ Flight – Kevin Sartell from Houston, DE posted a 38-39 for a 77, one stroke better than Scott Hootselle from Flowery Branch, GA who was steady with 39-39 to finish with 78. Kevin received a $130 gift for the win. Scott received a $50 gift card for second.

Player Flight – Brian Davis from Amherst, NY was the steady leader throughout with a 41-40 to finish with an 81. Ken Englert from Tonawanda, NY finished three strokes back with an 84 and second place. Brian received a $120 gift card for the win and Ken received a $40 gift card for second.

Senior Player Flight – Patrick Franklin from Wi******er, VA and Jeff Doehring from Cannonsburg, PA played to an 82-82 tie only to have to play extra holes to decide. Patrick managed to win in extra holes. Steven Moses from Bristow, VA and Dennis Maloney from Baiting Hollow, NY also finished in a tie at 83. Steven’s back nine of 42 was the tie breaker for third beating Dennis’ 44. Patrick received $150 gift card for the win. Jeff received a $60 gift card for second and Steven received a $40 gift card for third.

Hogan Flight – This being the biggest flight of 20 contestants, Javier Rivera from Angler, NC was a steady 39-40 for 79, beating the field by five strokes including 5 birdies. Rob Horvath from Wexford, PA came in second with an 84. Ryan Floyd from Woodstock, GA and Ben Hale from Elysburg, PA both finished with 85 and the tie breaker went to Ryan for third place. Doug Ricketts from Livonia, NY and Mark Brockway from Pinehurst NC both finish with 88 and Mark won the tie breaker to finish fifth. Javier received a $160 gift card for the win. Rob received a $90 gift card for 2nd. Ryan received a $70 gift card for 3rd. Ben received a $50 gift card for 4th and Mark received a $30 gift card for 5th.

Senior Hogan Flight – Russell Kuyawa from Westminster, MD and David Smith from Bremen, GA both finish in tie at 85. In the playoffs, Russell earned his win. Russell received a $130 gift card for his win. David received a $50 gift card for 2nd.

Palmer Flight – Jonathan Torres from Barceloneta, PR stumbled out of the gate with a 49 on the front but recovered on the back with a 40 to win with an 89. Brian Merkel from Orlando, FL and Peyton Hottel from Leesburg, VA played to a 91-91 tie only to have Peyton get second with the tie breaker. Jonathan received a $130 gift card for the win and Peyton received a $500 gift card for 2nd.

Senior Palmer Flight – Joe Rozario from Calgary, Canada wasn’t the best with his 42 on the front but managed to hold it together with a 45 on the back and finish with 87 to win by 2 strokes. Brian Jackson from South Beach, NY came in 2nd with his 89. Larry Miller from Elkridge, MD and Gil Steiner from Warrenton, VA played to a 90-90 tie. The tie beaker awarded Gil with 3rd place. Joe received a $150 gift card for the win. Brian received a $70 gift for 2nd. Gil received a $50 gift card for 3rd while Larry received a $30 gift card for 4th.

Jones Flight – John Marsala from Williston Park, NY was the clear winner with a 93 beating Joselito Oliveras from Vega Baja, PR by three strokes. John received and $100 gift card for the win Joselito received a $40 gift card for 2nd.

Senior Jones Flight – Joseph Craig from Franklin TN squeaked out a flight low 46 on the back to win with a 90 just one stroke better than Paul Rovnak from Poland, OH. Joseph received a $100 gift card for the win and Paul received a $40 gift card for 2nd.

Tiger Flight – The smallest flight got smaller with one no show and one DNF, but it didn’t stop Alan Beaudoin from Elko, NV from posting a 101 and winning by 13 strokes. Alan received a $100 gift card for the win.

Senior Tager Flight – Blaine Romero from Framingham, MA posted a flight low of 43 on the front but Thomas Berry from Brunswick, GA came back in the second half with a 45 to win with 94. Blaine struggled on the back but managed to finish second with a 98. Thomas received a $130 gift card for the win and Blaine received a $50 gift card for 2nd.

Skins Games
Champ & Senior Champ Skins – Total of 6 skins. Each skin was worth $50. Kyle Sigmon & Greg Bubela each had two. Scott Hooyselle & David Letner each had one.

Player & Senior Player Skins – Total of 10 skins. Each skin was worth $36. Chris Dolce & Dennis Maloney each had two. Brian Davis, Ken Englert, Dan Gaertner, Patrick Franklin, Sean Harrigan and Steven Moses each had one.

Hogan & Senior Hogan Skins – Total of 5 skins. Each skin was worth $36. Aaron Knight, Ryan Floyd, David Dolan, Jack O’Connor and Rob Horvath each had one.

Giant Skins – As usual, the biggest winners came from the Giant Skins. One hundred contestants entered at $10 each, creating a $1,000 pot. We had four winners. Each skin worth $250.

As director of U.S. Am Tour Albany NY, I had a great time joining Jake and Brett on Divots & Skins for Episode 8.

We talked about the US Am Tour Albany Region, local golf, tournament play, course strategy, and why this tour has been such a great opportunity for amateur golfers of all skill levels.

One of the things I enjoy most about the US Am Tour is the competition, but also the people. You get to play great courses, meet other golfers, test your game, and still have a good time doing it.

Turned out to be spectacular day for golf with temps in the 80’s, very little wind and sunshine all day. You couldn’t ask for a better day.⁣

𝐏𝐥𝐚𝐲𝐞𝐫 𝐅𝐥𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 – Lane Jenkins from Cohoes had all he could handle with visitor William Niles from North Providence, RI. Lane started the day with 3 bogeys in the first 4 holes while William managed three par and just one bogey and held a two-stroke lead. Lane came back on the 5th with a birdie while William doubled and Lane took the lead back by one. William drove the 297-yard par four 6th hole and sank the eagle putt, when Lane parred, William regained the lead by one stroke. Then William stumbled with a double bogey, and two bogeys to finish the front two strokes behind Lanes 38. William finished the second nine with a one over 37. Lane finished the back with two bogeys and two birdies for even par 36 to go on and win with a 74, three strokes better than William. Lane earned a $80 gift card for his win.⁣
⁣
𝐇𝐨𝐠𝐚𝐧/𝐏𝐚𝐥𝐦𝐞𝐫 𝐅𝐥𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 – Brett Varney from Hudson Falls and Shannon Loveridge from Mechanicville dueled to a 40-40 tie after the front nine. Both seemed to let off the gas, but Brett prevailed for his 6th win of the season with an 84, three strokes ahead of Shannon. Brett earned a $110 gift card for his win and Shannon picked up a $30 gift card for second.⁣

𝐉𝐨𝐧𝐞𝐬/𝐓𝐢𝐠𝐞𝐫 𝐅𝐥𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 – Jack Gentile from Ballston Lake and Neil Sergott from Clifton Park were both even after nine with 45. Neil improved with a 43 on the back while Jack fell back and Jack Van Ness from Queensbury posted a 41 to close the gap but couldn’t catch Neil. Neil finished with a 88 and Jake got a 90. Neil earned a $110 gift card for the win and Jake earn $30 gift card for second.⁣

𝐒𝐊𝐈𝐍𝐒 𝐆𝐀𝐌𝐄𝐒⁣

Re-cap from The Tournament at Wahconah Country Club on Sunday June 7th.

Despite cool temperatures and intermittent rain showers, the weather did little to dampen spirits. The course was in excellent condition, and players were extremely impressed, particularly since it was the first time most of them had played it.

Player/Hogan Flight – Dan Giovannangelo from Schenectady posted a 40 on the front, never looking back posting a 42 on the back punctuating his win with a birdie on the Par 3, 17th hole. to win by 6 strokes over James MacKinnon from Rouses Point. Dan received a $120 gift card for his win.

Palmer Flight – Brett Varney from Hudson Falls did the same in his flight as he posted a 40 on the front and 42 back nine to win going away. Brett received a $80 gift card for his win.

Jones/Tiger Flight – Jake Van Ness from Queensbury started the day with a par and birdie. That’s all it took for him to keep it rolling to a 43 on the front nine to stay 2 strokes ahead of Adam Miller from Westfield, MA. Jake finished with a total of 90 4 strokes ahead of Adam. Jake received a $120 gift card for his win.

Skins and Polie games-

Player/Hogan Flight - 3 total skins. James MacKinnon on the par 5 - seventh hole, Paulot Truchard on the par 5 - fourteenth hole and Dan Giovannangelo on the par 3 - seventeenth. Each received $26 for their skins.

Palmer Flight – No one got a birdie so we moved the criteria to pars and there were plenty. Brett Varney from Hudson Falls had 6 and received $36, Tom Hazen from Stephentown and Jeff Gorham from Fort Edward each had 2 and they received $12 each.

Jones/Tiger Flight – Jake Van Ness from Queensbury birdied the par 3 second hole, Adam Miller from Westfield, MA birdied the par 5 seventh hole and Erin Varney from Fort Edward birdied the par 4 fourth hole. Each received $34 for their birdies.

Giant Skins – Total of five skins. James MacKinnon, Dan Giovannangelo, Paulot Truchard, Jake Van Ness and Adam Miller each received $18 for their birdies.

Polies – Jake Van Ness took home the biggest prize of the day winning $100 for the only polie on the second hole.
