Re-cap from The Kaluhyat Classic, July 17, 2026
Unbelievably great weather. Seventies and sunny with just a little wind. The course was in spectacular shape as always and the play was superb.
Champ Flight – Kyle Sigmon from Chula Vista, CA came out of the gate flying with three birdies and an eagle on #6 to put up a two under 34 on the front. Finishing the back nine at one over for a 71. Greg Bubela from Toronto, ON battled along and got second with a one over 73. Kyle received a $100 gift for the win and Greg received a $20 gift card for second.
Senior Champ Flight – Kevin Sartell from Houston, DE posted a 38-39 for a 77, one stroke better than Scott Hootselle from Flowery Branch, GA who was steady with 39-39 to finish with 78. Kevin received a $130 gift for the win. Scott received a $50 gift card for second.
Player Flight – Brian Davis from Amherst, NY was the steady leader throughout with a 41-40 to finish with an 81. Ken Englert from Tonawanda, NY finished three strokes back with an 84 and second place. Brian received a $120 gift card for the win and Ken received a $40 gift card for second.
Senior Player Flight – Patrick Franklin from Wi******er, VA and Jeff Doehring from Cannonsburg, PA played to an 82-82 tie only to have to play extra holes to decide. Patrick managed to win in extra holes. Steven Moses from Bristow, VA and Dennis Maloney from Baiting Hollow, NY also finished in a tie at 83. Steven’s back nine of 42 was the tie breaker for third beating Dennis’ 44. Patrick received $150 gift card for the win. Jeff received a $60 gift card for second and Steven received a $40 gift card for third.
Hogan Flight – This being the biggest flight of 20 contestants, Javier Rivera from Angler, NC was a steady 39-40 for 79, beating the field by five strokes including 5 birdies. Rob Horvath from Wexford, PA came in second with an 84. Ryan Floyd from Woodstock, GA and Ben Hale from Elysburg, PA both finished with 85 and the tie breaker went to Ryan for third place. Doug Ricketts from Livonia, NY and Mark Brockway from Pinehurst NC both finish with 88 and Mark won the tie breaker to finish fifth. Javier received a $160 gift card for the win. Rob received a $90 gift card for 2nd. Ryan received a $70 gift card for 3rd. Ben received a $50 gift card for 4th and Mark received a $30 gift card for 5th.
Senior Hogan Flight – Russell Kuyawa from Westminster, MD and David Smith from Bremen, GA both finish in tie at 85. In the playoffs, Russell earned his win. Russell received a $130 gift card for his win. David received a $50 gift card for 2nd.
Palmer Flight – Jonathan Torres from Barceloneta, PR stumbled out of the gate with a 49 on the front but recovered on the back with a 40 to win with an 89. Brian Merkel from Orlando, FL and Peyton Hottel from Leesburg, VA played to a 91-91 tie only to have Peyton get second with the tie breaker. Jonathan received a $130 gift card for the win and Peyton received a $500 gift card for 2nd.
Senior Palmer Flight – Joe Rozario from Calgary, Canada wasn’t the best with his 42 on the front but managed to hold it together with a 45 on the back and finish with 87 to win by 2 strokes. Brian Jackson from South Beach, NY came in 2nd with his 89. Larry Miller from Elkridge, MD and Gil Steiner from Warrenton, VA played to a 90-90 tie. The tie beaker awarded Gil with 3rd place. Joe received a $150 gift card for the win. Brian received a $70 gift for 2nd. Gil received a $50 gift card for 3rd while Larry received a $30 gift card for 4th.
Jones Flight – John Marsala from Williston Park, NY was the clear winner with a 93 beating Joselito Oliveras from Vega Baja, PR by three strokes. John received and $100 gift card for the win Joselito received a $40 gift card for 2nd.
Senior Jones Flight – Joseph Craig from Franklin TN squeaked out a flight low 46 on the back to win with a 90 just one stroke better than Paul Rovnak from Poland, OH. Joseph received a $100 gift card for the win and Paul received a $40 gift card for 2nd.
Tiger Flight – The smallest flight got smaller with one no show and one DNF, but it didn’t stop Alan Beaudoin from Elko, NV from posting a 101 and winning by 13 strokes. Alan received a $100 gift card for the win.
Senior Tager Flight – Blaine Romero from Framingham, MA posted a flight low of 43 on the front but Thomas Berry from Brunswick, GA came back in the second half with a 45 to win with 94. Blaine struggled on the back but managed to finish second with a 98. Thomas received a $130 gift card for the win and Blaine received a $50 gift card for 2nd.
Skins Games
Champ & Senior Champ Skins – Total of 6 skins. Each skin was worth $50. Kyle Sigmon & Greg Bubela each had two. Scott Hooyselle & David Letner each had one.
Player & Senior Player Skins – Total of 10 skins. Each skin was worth $36. Chris Dolce & Dennis Maloney each had two. Brian Davis, Ken Englert, Dan Gaertner, Patrick Franklin, Sean Harrigan and Steven Moses each had one.
Hogan & Senior Hogan Skins – Total of 5 skins. Each skin was worth $36. Aaron Knight, Ryan Floyd, David Dolan, Jack O’Connor and Rob Horvath each had one.
Palmer & Senior Palmer Skins – Total of 5 skins. Each skin was worth $92. Jonathan Torres, Ozzie Ross, Larry Miller, Pete Ynigo and Michael Brooks each had one.
Jones & Senior Jones Skins – Total of 3 skins. Each skin was worth $73. Joseph Craig had 2 skins. Paul Rovnak had 1 skin.
Tiger & Senior Tiger Skins – Total of 3 skins. Each skin was worth $60. Fred Ortolani, Blaine Romero and Cindy Atkinson each had one.
Giant Skins – As usual, the biggest winners came from the Giant Skins. One hundred contestants entered at $10 each, creating a $1,000 pot. We had four winners. Each skin worth $250.

Kyle Sigmon from Chula Vista, CA with an eagle on the par 5, sixth hole.
Steven Moses from Bristow, VA with an eagle on the par 4, tenth hole.
