Out with the old and on to the NEW!

Tomorrow can be a FRESH START

New Week, New Month, New Program, New GOALS!

This last round of Barre wasn’t bringing me the joy I once felt while doing it so...mid way through I’m making a change! Not giving up, just moving on...

There comes a time when you know the difference

The GOAL➡️21 Workouts in 21 Days
REALITY ➡️21 Workouts in 23 Days

I ‘missed’ my goal by 2 DAYS...or did I?!?

Did I complete 21 workouts? YES!
Did I complete 21 workouts in the timeframe I set? NO...

Did I give up when I got ‘off’ track? NO!
Did I stop on the hard days? NO!
Did I switch programs when I wasn’t loving it? NO!

Did I complete the WHOLE program? YES!

Sure it took 2 days longer, I missed 2 days and moved one workout out of order, which put me ‘off’ schedule but I did it!

Point is, timeframes are great, they make you focus and keep you in a routine but you can’t allow the timeframe to dictate your success!

In my book done is DONE! So if you complete your goal in your timeframe awesome! If it takes you a smidge more time to complete it but you do - AWESOME!

Don’t let ANYTHING stop you! Keep going day after day, don’t worry about the original path to get you to your goal-just KEEP GOING till you’re there!

Sometimes amazing these can happen in the path that wasn’t planned. Keep the faith, believe that you can and you will💞

Don’t be afraid of being a beginner...be afraid of that feeling you’ll have if you don’t try!

9 weeks ago I had NEVER taken a Barre class EVER! I had ZERO idea what to expect and even less faith that I could actually do it and even closely resemble the ladies in the program

But I STARTED anyways! I showed up everyday for 8 weeks. I watched and listened to cues for form, I paused when I needed to, followed the modifier and at times rewinded so I could do a move again.

It was ROUGH! I LIKE to be good at things! There were days when I thought I was wasting my time, days when I was frustrated that my leg couldn’t go nearly as high as theirs but I DIDN’T QUIT!!!

And slowly week after week I started to see a difference. That knowledge I was lacking in the beginning was growing and that disbelief in myself that I could actually do this was dwindling!! And not to mention the physical change that came right along with it! 🤯

Then came the days when I couldn’t wait to run down stairs to see what the workout would bring, when I found myself doing Pliés & Releves when cooking or folding laundry or Arabesque down the hallway to tuck the kids into bed...seriously that happens!

All these things happened because I was OK with being a beginner and sucking...for a while! I was OK with not being good at it because I DECIDED I would be...eventually!

Now I’m not saying I’m a Prima-Ballerina by any means but I am a whole hell of a lot better today Round 2-Day 2 (right side) than I was on my first ever Day 2 (left side)

Do the thing-don’t be afraid of the beginning!

Yesterday I ate the pizza 🍕 and the ice cream🍦and drank the drinks🍻🍹 and ate NO veggies 🥦🥒🍅

I relaxed and smiled and laughed... A LOT!!

And now I’m right back at it today ready to crush week 7 of my Barre Blend program! Eating the veggies and drinking all the water and sweating it out!!! ( All while Still smiling and laughing 😉)

Best part... I didn’t “fall off”.... I just made room for more treats this weekend than I normally do.

Sustainability with your health and results isn’t about giving up the foods you love that are on the “less healthy side”... it’s about learning how to fit them into your life in moderation without guilt and not punishing myself for it today!

Life is waaaaay too short to live depriving and punishing ourselves 😀

Running is one of the best solutions to clear a mind

This week has been a heavy one and while my 3 mile run didn’t solve any or all the world’s problem it sure helped calm my mind and give me strength for the day ahead

When in doubt sweat it out!

My first race in 7 years was different than any other I’ve ever run

No pump up music at the starting line
No fellow racers running besides me
No spectators cheering me along
No grand finish line to cross

But I felt it ALL in my heart! I have run this race more than 10 times before and though I was on my own course by myself I FELT the energy as if I was right there next to the thousands of women on that course!

Thank you to my sister for giving me a nudge to get back to running something that gives me more JOY than I remember

No PR today but super proud of my pace and the fact that I got up and got it done!

Today I was reminded that there IS still a runner inside of me!

After a probably 6 year hiatus from running I laced up and hit the pavement and I can not lie... it felt FREAKING AMAZING!!!!

No expectations.
No pace to keep.
No miles to hit.
Just me, my pup and the sunshine!

And the further I went the bigger my smile got and the less anxious I felt

This was the first time but certainly NOT the last!

Not every day is good but there is GOOD IN EVERYDAY!!

It’s easy to focus solely on the hard times right now and sometimes they seem to out number the easy ones

I’m not going to say that we haven’t had our fair share of terrible moments and yeah maybe I don’t post those often but please don’t get it twisted they happen just as often here as they do there

I’m not posting this picture of the 3 of us to try to prove anything or make it appear that we have are $h!t together all of the time...by far

I took this happy picture to look at later, to remind me later in the day when things went sideways, when someone was melting down, or mad that we can’t go here or there or needs ANOTHER snack the minute I have to get in a work call...to remind me that there are still good moments everyday and even though this sucks there are still moments to cherish and smiles to be had

And I heard smiles are more contagious than this virus so I thought I’d pass it along 😁

Daily therapy session ✔️

There was cursing, there was doubt, there was some serious reflection and at the end calm, clarity and a smile

That calm may not last all day hit it feels good to start the day with!

Day 2 of 21👊🏻

03/31/2020

Today marks yet ANOTHER Day 1 for me! And I’ve got BIG GOALS!!!

Nope not to lose inches or pounds or see big gains...but rather NOT to lose my everlovin’ MIND in the next 21 Days

Yeah that is my GOAL...YUP I SAID IT

Staying home, homeschooling the boys...ok let’s be even more real TRYING to keep them on track with their school work while working from from home and trying to keep Murphy engaged and not addicted to YouTube videos and trying manage my anxiety with all that’s going on outside these walls...YEAH I say staying sane is my main goal

I know I can’t control A LOT right now but what I can control is committing to 30 minutes each day just for ME. To focus solely on me, my body, my health, my mind, my SANITY...just me!

30 minutes to look forward to each day-even if that 30 minutes is before 6am. 30 minutes to forget about everything else but following queues and pushing myself to my limits. 30 minutes to work it out, settle my mind and get ready for the day.

30 minutes - 21 Days - Let’s GOOO!
