Iron Will Collective Leg Day⁣

There are a million different ways to create a comprehensive lower body exercise routine. ⁣

Here is what we did today:⁣

Start with a couple compound exercises. ⁣

Hit a hip hinge⁣

Example: Trap bar RDL’s⁣

Squat variant⁣

Example: Zercher squat⁣

Additional compound exercises that we recommend include lunges, Bulgarian split squats and step ups. ⁣

Next, isolation exercises. ⁣

Quad dominant isolation ⁣

Example: TKE lunge⁣

Hamstring dominant isolation ⁣

Example: Band lying leg curl⁣

Additional exercises may be performed to isolate the glutes (glute bridge, pull-through, hip thrust)⁣

Don’t forget to train the calf’s! Though it is not shown in the video, we did some single leg, body weight calf raises today. ⁣

Key takeaways:⁣

Emphasize compound exercises for efficiency ⁣

Add isolation exercises based on goals⁣

Try to train all muscle groups with a variety of movement patterns⁣

Don’t throw up⁣

Reverse Hyperextensions ⁣

This exercise is widely regarded as one of the most effective posterior chain exercises, particularly for the muscles in the lower back and glutes. ⁣

Sure, it requires a fancy machine, but if you have access to one, we highly recommend giving it a try. ⁣

There are a few different ways to perform the movement, depicted here are faster reps that employ momentum from the weight to produce a significant stretch on the lower back when the hips are flexed. This creates space between the vertebrae and strength in the commonly weak muscles of the low back. ⁣

All in all, reverse hyperextensions can add a valuable dimension to most training programs, helping to develop strength and also in a therapeutic sense by working the stabilizer muscles without loading the spine. ⁣

Even if we aren’t posting often, we are still here to help. Do not hesitate to send us a message if you’re interested in training with the Iron Will Collective!⁣
