Congratulations to Big Al and Oscar on Their Retirements from The Motivator!
“Big Al” Vishnevetsky, affectionately known as “The Motivator,” has officially retired after nearly 40 years of dedicated service in helping Tucson residents achieve their fitness goals. His clients have enjoyed not only his expert training techniques but also his healing touch and infectious sense of humor.
In this new chapter, you can find Big Al spending quality time with the love of his life, Kelli, their little companion, Oscar, and their horse, Blue. Together, they will explore horseback riding and travel to new destinations, creating lasting memories with friends. Oscar, too, has embraced retirement and wishes to express his gratitude for the friendships he’s cultivated, proudly serving as an emotional support through the years.
The Motivator was more than just a career for Big Al; it was a labor of love. As he steps away, he is excited to hand over the reins to Lance Olberding, a long-time colleague. Lance comes with a rich background, having co-owned Evolution Fitness in Ohio and played professional football for the Cincinnati Bengals, New England Patriots, and Minnesota Vikings. Owning and operating a personal training studio has always been a dream for Lance, and Big Al’s retirement has opened the door for him to carry on the legacy of helping clients reach new heights in wellness.
Make sure to stop by, congratulate Lance, and discover how he can assist you in achieving your personal fitness goals!

Keep yourself well-hydrated. The amount of fluid needed prior, during and after a workout depends on your individual needs. We suggest half of the body weight in oz. For example 128 lbs. person needs to consume 64 oz of water. Talk to your doctor to make sure you are hydrating properly.
Set workout goals and write them down at the beginning of each week. You’ll be more likely to stick to them.
Think about hitting the gym instead of the trail. In one study, healthy middle-aged men who did 20 minutes of daily weight training gained less abdominal fat than men who spent the same time doing aerobic exercises, such as biking. Strength training is also good for women -- and it won’t make you bulky. You still need to do some cardio, but make sure strength training is in the mix.
