Our Nominating Committee of Joan Chyall and Jill Taylor have completed their work. They have done an outstanding job in recruiting nominees for the positions of President and Treasurer. Please join me in thanking them for a job well done!
This message will announce our incoming President and Treasurer. It will also contain information about donations, our last event at AZ National and upcoming events.
Chapter President
I am pleased to announce that JoAnn Black will become our new Chapter President. Her term will run November 2026 through October 2028. Thanks to all of you who voted. I will be working with JoAnn to facilitate a smooth transition of responsibilities. I believe JoAnn will provide strong and effective leadership for our Chapter.
Treasurer
I am pleased to announce that Janet Baker will become our new Chapter Treasurer. Her term will run November 2026 through October 2028. Linda Stratton will be working with Janet to facilitate a smooth transition of responsibilities. I believe Janet will be a great steward of our Chapter's finances.
Rounds of Golf and Other Donations
Our Chapter is in the process of gathering donated rounds of golf from area golf courses. These rounds will be used for drawings at our Annual Meeting and Holiday Event. The drawings are mutually beneficial...they raise money for our Chapter and provide an opportunity for members to win a round of golf or other donated items with minimal financial investment.
If you would like to help by securing a round of golf for 4 or other donations, please let me know so that I can send you a letter prepared by Gail Aalund, our Sponsorship Chair, for this purpose.
For those of you who have already secured a donated round, please mail the certificate to Renee Gowdy at 5455 W. Oasis Road, Tucson AZ 85742 or call her at 206-595-5218 to make other arrangements.
Fall Fling at AZ National Golf Course
We had a very unusual beginning to our Fall Season. AZ National unexpectedly shifted the dates of our event from September 12 to September 13. To my knowledge, this has never happened before and was very concerning to the Board. When the date changed, we lost members who were no longer available. Nevertheless, we went forward with the event. It was an enjoyable day for those who played. Even more strangely, we learned that they had to close the course on September 12 due to rain, thunder and lightening. So, had we played on the 12th, we would not have been able to complete the round. Interesting how things work out!
A special thank you to Sheila for maneuvering through the unexpected ups and downs of this tournament.
Upcoming Events
A: State Medallion and Play Day at Del Urich Golf Course on October 24, 2026
This will be the 4th round of our State Medallion Qualifiers. Members who have played a minimum of 2 of the 4 rounds and who hold AZ Golf membership through our Chapter and achieve either the two lowest Gross scores or the two lowest Net scores will represent our Chapter in January 2027 at the State wide AZ tournament.
Please note this event is open to all members as a "Play Day". Registration information will be sent out shortly. Please watch for Sheila's email.
B: Desert Dove at Cave Creek, November 12 and 13.
Time to register is drawing short. Registration closes on September 25. Sign up now! You don't want to miss this fun inter-Chapter event.
C: Annual Meeting & Golf Event, November 7.
Please mark your calendar and plan to attend our Annual Meeting on Saturday November 7 from 10 am to noon. In addition to the meeting, there will be a breakfast burrito buffet followed by an optional golf event.
From the standpoint of the Chapter, this is a very important meeting and the Board hopes that you will make very effort to attend. Look for more information about this event in the upcoming month.
D. Holiday Event at Skyline December 6.
We are fortunate to be returning to Skyline for our Holiday golf tournament and Holiday luncheon. Please mark your calendar now. You don't want to miss it.
