Into my second off week and getting the hunger to train and race again!!
Bike racing is simply having fun while going fast on two wheels. If you’re not enjoying it, you’re doing it wrong.

Wow!!! know how to throw a bike party. Doubled up for the last race of the year and took 11th in the P/1/2 and 5th in the 35+. Good racing on a challenging course.

We’ll, today didn’t go as planned. I knew exactly how it would play out and it did. I just made excuses to not commit. It’s def a sign of season end burnout. 52 race days this year isn’t too shabby. Congrats to on the win and ._wattzon on his trio of podiums this week.

The whip is all clean and ready for masters nationals crit on Sunday. This will be my second to last race of the year. With all the major changes (moving across the country and career) this year, tacking on planning a wedding, and the season starting so much earlier in this area than we’re used to it is time.
I’ve been stoked to line up once again in the colors this season and more stoked to help the team at some big CRITS this year whether it’s been behind the handlebars or from the sidelines. Such a good, tight-knit group of dudes who really are more like a family than a team. It’s tough coming to the realization that one is getting older and even if your fitness is great, the “shark brain” you need to be successful in the elite fields of these races comes less and less. Instead you get thoughts of “these damn kids”, “why would you do that”, and best of all “yeah, I don’t need this sh*t”. Thank god there are masters fields for when those thoughts do creep in. I love preaching the PE mission and what this team and organization stand for and will never stop pushing this message. Racing for a cause bigger than yourself is incredibly rewarding, especially when it hits close to home for you as PE’s veteran mission does with me.
I’m still stoked to race, but and I have some fly fishing and camping to do in the meantime. I’m already eager to start the work towards next year; a little more settled and a little more grey.
I can’t thank my better half (Mal Mal), , , , , .like.to.ride.my.bicycle and the rest of the guys for being there and chatting when I needed it, even if they didn’t realize it.
So, with all that out the way, I can’t wait to rip this through some fast turns with some fast dudes this weekend. It’s going to be rad.

At the beginning of Curt came up and gave me a hug and said “I’ve got a bottle of champagne for you.” Puzzled, I asked why, and he responded, bc when I crashed at TOAD and you came and helped me get my wits about me I was able to get back in the race, win it, and as a result win the Omnium. I was touched. With ’s crash yesterday I didn’t hesitate to help him and gather his things and get his car to the airport for . At the end of the day this is a hobby for 99.99999% of us who race and I would hope that helping friends who crash isn’t an outlier in our community. I’d hope that when someone needs help every single person who lines up is willing to stop and get off their bikes to help someone who looks like they need it. Anyway, today is my last day at Intelli. A sick pup and a trip that my better half, has lined up take precedence, so I’ll be flying out tomorrow.
Stoked to be here supporting the guys this week and seeing them do what they do best while also being able to line up in my own field and have some fun turning bikes fast. Hoping I get to do more of this in the future.
For those going, see you at old man nats in a week and a half.

Some people came away from with podiums, stories, maybe road rash, but not . She came away with pneumonia. We caught it early though and she’ll be good to go by the weekend.
Also, random fact, elite athletes tend to have abnormal heart rates, EKGs, and can sometimes have abnormally elevated troponin levels after hard events.
