Hello to everybody that follows me on this page. I have moved out of Tucson and I am no longer giving lessons in the Tucson area for the time being. If I move back I'll be happy to resume lessons there again. I wish to thank everyone that has given me the opportunity to work with your child and help them learn to swim over the last several years. My best to everyone and please be careful in the pool! 😎
Little Monkey Swim School
Our swim school is geared towards water safety and teaching individuals fundamental swimming skills
Hello all. I will be teaching some swim lessons this summer. Please instant message me if you are interested.
I will start in early June to give me the time to finish my regular school year and also give pools a little bit of a chance to warm up.
Lessons are $20 per student per half hour, and if it is a solo lesson that you have scheduled with me, the fee is $25.
Let me know if you have questions and I look forward to hearing from you.
Hello Swim School Followers! I will be doing swim school lessons again this summer in the Tucson area. I will start lessons at the beginning of June. As I teach summer school in June, lessons will be in the afternoon. Once July comes, I will be available for morning and afternoon lessons. I am a concierge swim instructor so I come to you. I usually work with groups of children, but no more than four at a time.
Each 30 minute lesson is $20. I work with students ages 3 years and up. I focus on water safety, survival and swimming skills in that order. I know I have parents that also do not know how to swim, and I would encourage you to learn with me, or on your own.
I want to let everyone know that I will be out of town for a few days during the week of June 24 to June 28 for a teacher training, so I will suspend lessons on those days. I will give details as we get closer to June.
If you have interest, or want to schedule lessons, please let know so I can start to build a calendar, and schedule. Please direct message me regarding this. If you have friends or family that want their child(ren) to learn to swim, please let them know of me. I've been teaching swim lessons since 2016 and it started off with one friend and expanded greatly since then. I even had the opportunity to do some lessons in the Philippines when I was there last in 2019! Anyway, everything I do is word of mouth so your help is much appreciated.
I hope 2024 has started out well for everyone. Thank you one and all! And again, if you have interest, or know someone who does, please have them direct message me here. :)
Hello to those that have followed me for years or for a day or less. I've been inactive here for some very personal reasons. Earlier this year my fiance of 3 years became sick and passed away. The period leading up to, and some time afterwards, caused me to withdraw and heal. I'm at a point where I'm mostly ok (as can be). I'm moving my life forward as she would have wanted me to do.
My yearly job as a teacher was pretty good this year but as always, stressful. There are a lot of positive changes going on at my school and this will require a lot of time from me this summer. I will also be teaching summer school from 8:30 to 1:30 for the month of June. That said, I will still teach some swim lessons this year.
With all that, to keep my stress at a reasonable level, I will teach swim, but the number of commitments will be lower than years past. If I teach lessons in Tucson, I will require a group of no less than 2 and no more than 4 per group. Preferably students should be of a similar swim level as the kids learn from watching one another and hearing the same thing being said over and over. If you have a large group of kiddos from multiple families, we will book lesson back to back in multiple groups.
The fees this year are $20 per child for a 30 minute lesson. If I travel to Sahuarita or Green Valley, my fees will be $25 per child and I will require a group of at least 3.
If you have interest please message me directly through IM. Please know that I will keep my numbers low this summer for the reasons posted above. I want to help and teach everyone I can, but for my own reasons, I will need to limit my numbers.
Update!!!
Today I learned that I will be teaching summer school during the month of June. This means no morning lessons during June. I will give afternoon lessons and Saturday morning/early afternoon lessons.
Also, I have had a number of people ask me what I charge. I have not changed my rates from last year. I will still be charging $15 dollars per lesson.
If you have other questions, please let me know. :)
Hello LMSS families! yes, it really is 12:51 am and I'm up still doing things. I finished my school lessons, and had to check here as I knew I had messages I needed to reply to. I apologize for the delayed response to those that were waiting a day or two.
I will be doing lessons again this summer. YEAH!!!! Last summer was sadly shut down due to Covid. However, so many things have improved and we know a lot more about the virus and how to deal with it, etc. As such, I will be teaching swim and will start to figure out when, and to a degree, where. When I know more about the when I will post. I also will figure out there where with all of your help.
If you or someone you know wants or needs lessons for themselves or their children, please have them message me here. I look forward to seeing every and teaching swim again this summer. Take care!! :)😎
Happy New Years everyone. I hope you have all had a pleasant, safe and healthy end of 2020 and that 2021 has started off well for you. Best wishes moving into 2021. Take care. :)
Well, who's ready for this virus to go away? I know I am. Sadly, it's ruined a full season of swim lessons. 🙁 🙁 🙁
I had looked forward to teaching swim this summer, meeting new people, seeing friendly faces from last year (or earlier), etc. Sadly, that hasn't happened. I hear, read and watch many discussions on what is or isn't real, should or shouldn't happen, when something could or may or may not occur, etc. One thing I can say, like I did 5 or 6 weeks ago, wash your hands, don't touch your eyes, nose and mouth, and the chances of you getting sick are almost none.
Now, as a teacher, and most of you as parents, we get to explore the fun times of distance learning or no day care, or no after school programs, etc. I get to start the school year by "meeting" my students online. Hello, odd and awkward and ineffective. I should probably get a voice synthesizer and make sure I sound like a robot when I meet my new 6th grade students. (In a robotic and monotone voice) "Hello students, I am your virtual long-distance learning assistant better know as your teacher, Mr. Goodridge. For at least one week we will learn together, sort of, somehow, while some of you log in and do some of your work for a grade." I'm sure that will be a most excellent way to greet my students. And no, I won't do that (well maybe the voice synthesizer)! 😃
If there is something I can do for someone with swim, pool, or tub tips please let me know in an IM direct message.
I hope this message finds you all well, healthy and/or recovering. While COVID is more dangerous than the flu, I do feel it's been over-hyped and we've been put into a position to be scared and over-worried. It's ok to worry as this is a real thing, it's legit. But I think it's been over done.
Take care and I'll post again soon.
Ben, LMSS
Hello LMSS families and friends. It's June 4, 2020, and it seems that we will eventually have to have the whole herd concept to overcoming Covid 19. Meaning we may need to get sick, and then wait for future medical help, to get rid of this. I just heard on the radio in the last 3 days we've had over 2100 new cases of Covid 19. :( :( :( While this continues to run rampant I do not feel safe teaching in case I am sick or your child(ren) is/are sick and may not even know it. I am quite bothered by this but I'm a realist about this. Continue to wash your hands. Continue to keep your hands and children's hands out of their faces. Cover up when you cough and sneeze. If we follow very simple behaviors we can beat this. However, it would seem that bad habits are hard to break and people continue to get sick. :(
Anyway, please be safe. I'll post again soon.

Hello LMSS families and friends. I haven't been ignoring you. Everyday I think about swim and the good times and successes from last year. Our governor has given a partial and phased opening of our state. Pools, to a degree, are open. My complex pool is only open part time. This doesn't allow for me to teach lessons here yet.
A few things slowing me down to start lessons are as follows:
1. TUSD finished school on Friday, May 22, 2020, but I'm moving rooms. There is a realigning of teachers within the school and I'm moving from one building to another. I'm in the process of packing and moving mys stuff for next year. I would rather do this now than later.
2. Pool water temperatures. I'll admit it that I'm a wimp when it comes to water temps. I like my water at 81 to 84 degrees (roughly). Cold water isn't fun to be in all day and it's no fun to get into initially. Most nights the temperatures have been in the mid to lower 60s still. Tonight, 5/28/2020 is the first night I've heard that the temperature is supposed to be no lower than 74 degrees. If this continues pool temperatures will go up quickly as our day temps reach 100+
3. Chinese Wuhan Corona Covid-19 virus: I'm not overly concerned about catching it because I do a very good job of washing my hands, not touching my face and not letting people sneeze or cough in my face. However, when it comes to teaching in the pool this happens all the time. In the last 4 years I've had my students couch, sneeze or spit water into my face dozens and dozens of times. I've become sick from this at least three times that I am aware of, and at least two other times I could feel my body fighting infection and thankfully I didn't get sick because I took lots of vitamin C and slept a lot. This year I simply will not put myself, my daughter and all of your children (and then you and your families) into a position where I become the epicenter of spreading the virus. As such I will give this at least another week to wait for the AZ and Pima Country numbers to drop.
After writing all that I would say #3 is probably the most important in terms of our health and safety. One is selfishly listed (hey sorry I'm a warm water guy)!! :) And the other is for my main job.
I take all of my jobs seriously. I like to joke and I love having fun in my room and in the pool, but health and safety has always been my #1 concern, and sadly, the virus brings another facet of safety to the front for all of us. Keeping my daughter, your children, and the rest of us healthy is important and as I'm my own boss, my boss told me I can't swim until there are fewer cases, etc.
If you have questions please let me know. Please be safe, do not touch your face and teach all of our children not to touch their faces. I struggle with my daughter and I'm sure many of you struggle with this too.
I miss you all and hope everyone is doing well. Take care.
Hey all, with the whole Covid-19 Wuhan China Virus upon us (but hopefully winding down) I would remind you what I was told many years ago (2004) by a really good nurse. I was recently reminded the same by the same nurse and a doctor friend of mine. It relates to the pandemic and the every day cold and flu. Wash your hands thoroughly. Now the important part: Do NOT touch your face. DO NOT touch your eyes, nose or mouth. If you don't do this the chances of you getting sick is pretty much 0.00%. It otherwise takes someone sneezing or coughing in your face for the germs to get to you.
Watch the people around you. See how many people, without realizing it, touch their eyes, nose or mouth. If we stop this, we pretty much stop the spread of all virus and bacterial infections.
There is always the chance you can catch any sickness, but following these simple steps gives you a massive chance to stay healthy.
Be well my LMSS friends and family. I miss you all.
