The turnaround at Pueblo High School continues to be one of the best stories in Tucson high school football.
Jet Sports Network caught up with two standout Pueblo Warriors student athletes, quarterback Roman Otero and athlete Jesus Enriquez, following their big performances against rival Cholla High School last Friday night.
Otero earned Jet Sports Roy Burr Impact Player of the Game honors, while Enriquez was named the KVOA News 4 Player of the Week. Both athletes have played major roles in the Warriors’ success this season.
Head coach Sly Lewis praised Otero’s leadership, calling it some of the best he has witnessed throughout his coaching career. His attention to detail, commitment to doing the little things right, and ability to lead by example reflect the culture being built at Pueblo over the past three seasons.
Meanwhile, Enriquez continues to make his presence felt on the field, racking up an impressive 12 touchdowns so far in the 2026 season.
Coming off a 4A Region Championship in 2025, the Pueblo Warriors currently sit at 5 and 2 with three games remaining against Rio Rico, Sahuarita, and Empire. The Warriors control their own destiny, with a playoff berth within reach if they can win out.
What Coach Lewis, his coaching staff, and these student athletes have accomplished is bigger than individual awards or statistics. It’s a testament to the hard work, accountability, leadership, and belief that have helped transform the Pueblo football program.
For the city of Tucson, witnessing Pueblo football rise again has been nothing short of remarkable. Every coach, staff member, and athlete has contributed to this turnaround, and players like Roman Otero and Jesus Enriquez are helping lead the way.
It’s truly great to see Pueblo Warriors football prosper, and with three weeks remaining, there’s still plenty left to accomplish.
