🇺🇸 SEPTEMBER 11 — WE REMEMBER. WE HONOR. WE NEVER FORGET. 🇺🇸
Twenty-five years ago, our nation was attacked. In the days and years that followed, countless brave men and women answered the call to serve our country. They left behind their families, their homes, and the lives they knew — stepping forward into a fight that would span the globe.
Among them were the Rangers.
Today, we remember not only the lives lost on September 11, 2001, but also the countless service members who carried the weight of that day with them into the War on Terror. They fought in Afghanistan. They fought in Iraq. They deployed again and again. They carried the memories of those we lost and stood between our nation and those who sought to harm it.
Rangers Lead the Way.
Today, the CoronaRita Rangers are honored to carry that legacy onto the soccer field.
One of our U11 Rangers, Ezra, wears the name of Staff Sgt. Ricardo Barraza on the back of his jersey.
Ezra doesn't simply wear a name.
He wears a story.
He wears a legacy. @
He wears the memory of a Ranger who gave everything.
🇺🇸 STAFF SGT. RICARDO BARRAZA 🇺🇸
2nd Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment
Staff Sgt. Ricardo Barraza was only 24 years old when he made the ultimate sacrifice on March 18, 2006, during combat operations in western Iraq.
A proud Ranger and squad leader, Barraza served in every position within a Ranger r***e squad. He deployed six times in support of the Global War on Terrorism — three times to Afghanistan and three times to Iraq.
He answered the call again and again.
He led from the front.
And on March 18, 2006, he gave his life serving his country.
His service was recognized with numerous awards, including the Combat Infantryman Badge, Expert Infantryman Badge, Ranger Tab, Senior Parachutist Badge, and, posthumously, the Bronze Star Medal for Valor, Bronze Star Medal, Purple Heart, and Meritorious Service Medal.
But beyond the medals and decorations was a son, a brother, a fiancé, a future husband, a friend, a leader — and a Ranger.
His sacrifice left a lasting legacy with his family, his fellow Rangers, and a nation that will forever owe a debt of gratitude to those who answered the call.
Today, that legacy is carried forward by a young Ranger named Ezra.
Every time Ezra steps onto the pitch wearing Staff Sgt. Barraza's name, we hope he remembers that the name on his back represents courage, sacrifice, leadership, and service far greater than the game itself.
We honor Staff Sgt. Ricardo Barraza.
We honor his family.
We honor the Rangers who stood beside him.
And we honor every man and woman who raised their hand and served our nation following September 11, 2001 — those who came home, those who continue to carry the scars of war, and those who never made it home.
Their sacrifices gave us the freedom to gather on fields like this one, to play, to compete, to laugh, to grow, and to live our lives.
We will remember.
We will honor.
We will never forget.
