🥅 Midway through National Adaptive Soccer Camp, we pulled our power soccer and blind soccer coaches aside for their thoughts on each other’s respective sports. This was a unique weekend where Katie Kensy and Jess Oliff from power soccer joined alongside blind soccer coaches John “Moose” Marquez and Abigail Paige for pre-camp training activities and team bonding.

One of the most unique and impactful aspects of UASA programs are the pan-disability lessons that go far beyond any soccer pitch. We love seeing our community share and learn from one another. ⚽️💛

Comment your thoughts on power soccer and blind soccer. Have you witnessed either in person?

Video Description:
Coaches from different pathways try out amputee soccer. Power soccer coaches are shown speaking to their athletes.

Blind soccer athletes perform fundamental ball-handling drills such as dribbling with short, controlled kicks that keep the loud ball within leg’s reach. During a match, Athlete Evan Martinez slyly dribbles up field past multiple defenders.

Power soccer athletes Dana and Jenna duel over possession. Ruby performs a spin-kick to get past Dana, but the ball is deflected back down the court.

When we asked Jasela about the impact of UASA’s first-ever Pan-disability Soccer Camp, she shared that her athletes are “going to take it with them for awhile.”

From August 28-30, soccer athletes from power, blind, dwarf, intellectual/developmental, amputee soccer, and cp pathways trained together under one roof. This experience also included high-performance coaches, referees, and support staff to grow the beautiful game across the country.

While bringing together a large group of athletes with disabilities, you quickly learn about how adaptable the sport of soccer can be. Follow United Adaptive Soccer Association to hear more stories from camp.

Soccer brings us together for play, action, and competition.

Our mission is much clearer with the steadfast support from BioMarin Pharmaceutical. We are grateful to work together to create the next generation of athletes.

Let’s go play. ⚽️

This past weekend, more than 70 athletes with a wide range of abilities and disabilities came together for competitive training, recreational clinics, and meaningful connection through soccer. When we include players, coaches, referees, staff, and support people, more than 120 individuals traveled from 21 states to participate in five distinct adaptive soccer pathways: Amputee, Blind, Dwarf, Intellectual Disability, and Power Soccer.

It is trapped and passed to the next player from a blind soccer athlete to a power soccer athlete to a dwarf soccer athlete to an IDD soccer athlete to an amp soccer athlete.
