Australian Outback plants
Australian Outback Plants has been a part of our family and racing journey for a long time, but I wanted to take a little time to highlight the incredible business behind the name on my car.
Australian Outback Plants was founded in 1981 by Paul Chambers, an Australian horticulturist who started the business from a suitcase of Australian seed. What started as a passion for Australian native plants has grown into one of the largest suppliers of Australian native plants and trees in the U.S., with more than 80 greenhouses and 50 acres dedicated to Australian trees and eucalyptus. 🌱
Their plants are known for being drought tolerant, water-wise and cold hardy, making them especially well suited for landscapes in places like Arizona and other areas where water conservation is important. They supply plants across the country for homeowners, landscapers, commercial projects and retail locations.
But their work goes far beyond landscaping. Australian Outback Plants is also a major supplier of eucalyptus leaves and feed for koalas in zoos across the United States, along with providing foliage for other exotic animals. Their website highlights work with zoos and animal facilities across the country. 🐨🌿
Paul has been a close family friend since my dad and grandpa’s go-kart days back in Arizona, long before I ever started racing. He has been around for so many chapters of our family’s racing journey, and he was also the one who started the “Darkside” name that has become such a meaningful part of our family.
I’m incredibly thankful to have someone who has supported our family for so many years continue to be part of my racing journey today.
