Parkinson’s + Hallucinations
Not everyone w/PD experiences hallucinations but for those who do, it can be extremely unsettling.
The first time I worked with a client who had them, he was quite open with me about how often they came, what he saw, how it made him feel. He occasionally experienced them during our sessions.
One (mild) exchange went like this; sitting across from each other, I saw him stiffen and stare intently over my left shoulder.
Me: who do you see?
Him: three men, don’t turn your head, act natural.
Me: ok. Anyone you recognize?
Him (leaning in, whispering): no…
Me (leaning in, also whispering): do they appear friendly?
Him: they don’t appear unfriendly but I’d like them out of my home.
Me: would you like me to show them to the door?
[silence, his gaze still fixed over my shoulder]
Me: what would you like me to do?
Him: just be yourself.
Me: ok, shall we continue our session?
Him (he visibly relaxes): yes.
The men vanished as quickly as they’d arrived.
What a crummy disease.

FUEL UP WITH FIBER
About 4 million people struggle with frequent constipation, meaning they have fewer than 3 bowel movements a week. And approximately 80% of individuals with Parkinson's are clinically constituted.
Here's a tip to get things moving, naturally. 💩
Begin adding 1-2 TBS ground flaxseed to your meals or smoothies each day.
👉PRO TIP 👈
Start with just 1 tsp a day and slowly work your way up to the "Juuuuuuust right" amount that gives you that high-quality #4 perfect poo on the Bristol Stool Chart.

POTTY TRAINING 101 💩
Training the body to evacuate the bowels daily is priority numero uno for each of us. And particularly so for individuals living with Parkinson's.
More Water - uplevellng your hydration will have a profoundly positive impact not only on your daily constitution but on your cognition as well. ðŸ§
Try this: divide your body weight in half, aim for that many ounces of pure, room temp water everyday.
👉 PRO TIP 👈
Start small. Purchase three 12-ounce thermoses, fill with water and have them ready. Drink one in the morning, polish off another before lunch, and finish the third one before dinner. After 3 weeks, add another thermos or increase to 16 ounce thermoses. Your body (and your bladder) will adapt. 🕺🕺🕺

This is a simple, feel-good sequence that can ease digestive distress - think gas, bloating, heaviness - and help keep things moving along the intestinal tract in the right direction.
If you can get on/off the floor, you can do this short session. No props needed.
Clink the link below to practice with me - and my elder pibbleRanger (who can't be bothered!).

THE PERFECT POO
How often should you be having a bowel movement?
Daily. Everyday Is Trash Day.
Your liver begins the natural process of detoxification around 3pm in the afternoon. The Liver-as-Janitor becomes extremely busy as it enters the night shift. Between 10:00pm and 3:00am it is doing the heavy lifting of gathering, collecting, and processing waste and refuse (metabolic wastes, circulating toxins, excess hormones, and more). It then pushes the trash into the colon for removal - to be flushed down the toilet shorty after you wake up.
If you’re not having a quality bowel movement Every.Single.Day, you’ll quickly have a backup of nastiness; bulging trash can (bloating), pipes that are clogged (constipation), toilets that are overflowing (diarrhea).
This stinks, literally and figuratively. If the trash isn’t going out the backdoor (aka your colon), it’s going to make a mess of things inside.
Over the coming days, I'll provide my top 4 natural ways to get the funk out.
Stay tuned.

POTTY TALK 💩
According to the Parkinson's Foundation, constipation affects up to 80% of people with PD. It is primarily caused by damage to the autonomic nervous system—which controls digestion—or as a side effect of medications. It often predates motor symptoms by years and can disrupt the absorption of vital medications like levodopa. You were likely constipated long before you were diagnosed with Parkinson's.
You know that saying 'you are what you eat'? I respectfully disagree.
You aren't what you eat, you are what you don't eliminate. Think on that.
Any lingering funk in the small and large intestines gets backed up, recirculated, and reabsorbed - becoming part of you. What remains will be a contributing factor in your body's health or its demise.
I spent 10 years as a Clinical Ayurvedic Specialist before devoting myself full-time to work as a yoga therapist. One of my teachers is fond of saying, "Move your body, move your breath, move your bowels ... everyday".
Are you moving?
Are you moving all three?
