Down on points. Less than a minute left.

A lot of people accept the loss at that point. Dane didn’t.

He stayed calm, kept pushing the pace, and found the opening he needed to turn the match around when it mattered most. That’s the kind of grit you can’t fake.

Awesome comeback this weekend at AGF. Proud of the work he put in before the tournament—and even prouder of the way he refused to quit when things weren’t going his way.

Congratulations, Coach Dane. 👊 Dane Leak

A lot of people miss foot sweeps because they’re watching the foot instead of the position.

The trick is learning to recognize the moment your partner is vulnerable. In this video I show a couple of simple landmarks that make it much easier to know when to attack. Once you start seeing those positions, you’ll find yourself hitting foot sweeps much more consistently.

The mechanics still matter, but good timing starts with knowing what to look for.

Try it in training and let me know how it works for you.

That knee shield giving you problems?

Instead of trying to force your way through it, give them something else to worry about.

Threaten a foot lock on their top foot. A lot of people will instinctively put the boot on to defend it. The moment they extend that leg, the knee shield drops… and that’s your opening.

Get chest-to-chest, kill the space, and start working your pass.

Sometimes the easiest guard pass isn’t about smashing harder—it’s about creating the reaction you want.

Every defense creates a new opportunity. 👊

The Peruvian necktie is already a dangerous submission, but when your opponent defends correctly, they often expose something even better.

In this sequence, Coach Matt shows how to flow directly from the Peruvian necktie into an arm lock, turning their defense into your next attack. Instead of forcing the choke, recognize the reaction and let your opponent guide you to the finish.

Everyone expects the mat return…

Almost nobody expects the submission that comes right after. 👀

The Mighty Mouse Armlock is a slick attack you can chain directly off a wrestling mat return, turning what should be a reset into a fight-ending opportunity.

Tag your favorite training partner who needs to add this one to their game.
