One of our parents found these pages in her son’s backpack after school this week. Apparently TaeKwonDo is always on his mind!

This weekend, part of our team traveled to Louisiana for the Down South Spring Open… and showed up in a big way.
Every student (and one instructor) placed in every division.
More importantly, they represented Midtown Martial Arts with hard work, sportsmanship, and strong character.
Beau Edwards – 1st sparring, 1st patterns
Helen Fox – 1st sparring, 2nd patterns
James Fox – 3rd sparring, 2nd patterns
Ada James – 1st sparring, 3rd patterns
Loxley James – 3rd sparring, 2nd patterns
Spencer James - 2nd sparring, 1st patterns
Tournaments are a chance for students to step outside their comfort zone and apply what they practice every week.
Proud of this crew!

Every belt and test tells a story.
Not just of skill, but of showing up.
For younger students, that often means parents are showing up too. Getting them to class on the nights they’re tired or would rather stay home.
That consistency is what builds real progress.
Over time, kids learn something powerful:
growth comes from doing the hard things, even when you don’t feel like it.
That’s where confidence is built!

One of the most common questions parents ask us: “What age should my child start martial arts?”
The truth is that every child develops at their own pace.
Some are ready to begin as early as 4, while others benefit from starting later.
What matters most is finding a program that helps build:
• confidence
• listening skills
• coordination
• focus
Our instructors meet students where they are and help them grow from there.
The best way to see if martial arts is the right fit for your child is to try a class. Book a free trial at www.midtownmartialarts.com

Every class at Midtown Martial Arts begins the same way: students line up, bow, and show respect to their instructors and classmates. It’s a small moment, but it sets the tone for everything that follows.
In Taekwondo, students are not just learning kicks and forms. They are practicing respect, focus, perseverance, and self-control. Over time, those habits begin to show up outside the dojang as well - in school, at home, and in the way they treat others.
Martial arts is more than an activity. It helps build strong character that lasts a lifetime.

Sometimes the best part of class happens after the kicks and punches are done!
At the end of this week’s Midtown Minis class, the students decided Ms. Koko deserved a group hug.
Moments like this are what make our program special. Kids are not just learning Taekwondo. They are building friendships, confidence, and trust with their instructors.
Every child can benefit from a positive environment like this and we would love to meet yours.

Confidence is not something kids are born with.
It is something they practice.
Every time a student steps onto the mat they learn to:
• try something difficult
• make mistakes
• improve with effort
• stand tall and try again
That process builds real confidence that carries into school, sports, and everyday life.
Taekwondo is not just about kicking and punching.
It teaches kids how to believe in themselves.
If your child could use a confidence boost, we’d love to meet them.
