The new pickleball courts at Newt Hinton Park are officially open and ready for play! Located just behind the Bobby Miller Activity Center, these courts provide another great place for our community to stay active and have fun.

Meet Center Manager Monday 👋

This week we’re spotlighting Lillie Leatherwood, Center Manager at the Bobby Miller Activity Center!

“In my one and a half years with PARA, I’ve truly enjoyed serving families, supporting youth, and helping our community stay active and connected. What I love most about managing BMAC is creating a welcoming space where people of all ages feel encouraged, supported, and at home. Our center is special because it brings the community together — a place where relationships grow, memories are made, and everyone belongs.

Before joining PARA, I had the honor of representing the United States on the world stage. I’m a 1984 Olympic Gold Medalist in the 4×400-meter relay from the Los Angeles Games and a 1988 Olympic Silver Medalist from the Seoul Olympics — experiences that continue to inspire my passion for encouraging others to stay active, pursue their goals, and build strong community connections.”

UPDATE: ALL PARA Activity Centers (Including the Tuscaloosa Tennis Center) & PARKS will delay opening on Monday, January 26, 2026 until 12:00PM and will close at 6PM.

All Tuscaloosa Basketball Association - TBA basketball games and or practices will be cancelled Monday, and those games will be rescheduled.

The Jerry Tingle Activity Center Open House originally scheduled for tomorrow is cancelled and will be rescheduled.

PARAkids Extended Day after school care at Rock Quarry is cancelled in accordance w/the Tuscaloosa City Schools closure.

Ol' Ol' Colony Golf Complex greens will be covered until Wednesday. Iron and Ember Golf at Ol' Colony will open 1/26 at 12:00PM and remain open for regular business hours.

We’re expanding our childcare-nursery hours to better serve our families. We will continue to offer our regular daytime schedule, Monday-Friday from 8:00am - 12:00pm.

New additional hours effective today:
Monday-Thursday, 3:30-7:30pm
Saturday, 8am-12pm
