Today, we mourn the loss of a true legend and pioneer in Alabama Adapted Athletics, Jessica Minton. Jessica made history in 2003 as the first-ever recruited student-athlete on the University of Alabama’s women’s wheelchair basketball team, helping pave the way for generations of athletes who would follow. Her competitive spirit continued beyond her collegiate career as she pursued hand cycling, embodying the determination and passion that defined her life.
Yet, beyond her accomplishments, Jessica will be remembered most for her kind and gentle soul, her beautiful smile, and the encouragement she so freely gave to everyone she met. She made a lasting difference not only through her athletic achievements, but through the lives she touched along the way.
Our hearts are with her husband, Bryant, her son, Grant, and all who loved her. Her legacy will forever be a part of Alabama Adapted Athletics.
Rest in peace, Jessica. Thank you for leading the way and for sharing your light with all of us. You will never be forgotten. ❤️ - Margaret and Brent
