Budo International Oct 2026 article by Hwa Rang Do Grandmaster Taejoon Lee - The Way Back to the Human Heart.

“Internal training teaches the student to see these impulses before obeying them.
This is where meditation, breathing, stillness, reflection, and disciplined repetition become essential. They are not decorative. They are not mystical accessories added to martial technique. They are instruments of self-governance.
A student who cannot sit with himself cannot be trusted to wield power over others.
Stillness reveals restlessness.
Silence reveals noise.
Breath reveals fear.
Meditation reveals the hidden movements of ego.
When a student begins to see himself clearly, he can begin to govern himself. And when he can govern himself, he becomes safer for others.
That is the goal.
Not merely to create fighters. To create protectors.
The protector must have external power, or his compassion remains helpless.
But he must have internal power, or his strength becomes dangerous.
This is the harmony of Hwa Rang Do.
Um and Yang.
Hard and soft.
Action and stillness.
Force and restraint.
Sword and bow.
Power and love.
Where these are separated, corruption enters.
Where they are united, the human being begins to flower.”
