Rock gardening near Silver Bay, MN during the 2025 Storm Gathering on Lake Superior.

We lucked out on Saturday with 2-3' swell rolling across from the eastern side of the lake with local offshore winds.
That lake forecast paired with Pellet Island and its surrounding rocks made for a perfect venue. Complete with two rock gardens, cliffs, and a slot. Small groups split off to work on maneuvers, rescues, towing, and for rock garden surf sessions throughout the whole day.

The Great Lakes rough water paddling season is calling!

There're a few spaces left for anyone keen to come out and get in the surf while the surfin' is good.

With about a month left, don't wait too long before this year's Storm Gathering is full!

We have kayak, paddle, and dry suit rentals available for anyone coming out of town! Just let us know what you need and we'll get you geared up.

We love Greenland paddles on the "northshore". If you're a Greenland style paddler wishing to come out and paddle The Gales this year, we'll have you covered with specific coaching to get the most out of your stick while out in the gnar.

This video was taken in early spring around a day after a storm blew through and we knew that since the waves wouldn't be as developed as hoped, that we might as well go check out the rock gardens, cliffs, caves and slots around Palisade Head. While conditions were relatively tame Ben took the chance to get close and personal with an ice covered slot in the waves.
