At the bottom of the mask is a circular, one-way valve which allows exhaled air to escape the mask.

To optimize nebulization/treatment efficiency, twist this valve to the fully closed position when the horse is relaxed and breathing normally. This allows the aerosolized medication or treatment solution to be inhaled through the aerosol holding chamber as intended.

You might be curious when it should be left open! This is helpful for horses which need extra air during treatment or when introducing horses to nebulization.
