Designed for postpartum moms with non-mobile babies, these classes offer a safe and supportive way to move your body with baby on board. ❤️

For the first half of class, you’ll be on a mat with your baby nearby, for exercises the focus on the core and glutes. In the second half, you’ll have the option to wear your baby for standing movements where we target the arms and legs. 

We know babies are unpredictable, and we welcome you to feed, change, or comfort your little one anytime during class!

This time of year, we are surrounded by calls to overhaul our lives and make major changes, especially when it comes to exercise. At Materra, we think of fitness New Year’s resolutions a little bit differently. We love this chance to recommit to movement that feels good, but we know building a sustainable routine requires kindness and flexibility as we navigate the demands of life and motherhood. Join us for Gentle January: a month of intentional movement, while allowing grace for ourselves as we grow.

What a year it has been! As we reflect on 2025, we are grateful to each and every one of you on this journey with us. It was a year of new classes, new programs, and new milestones. We are excited to keep moving and growing with you in 2026!

Owning this studio has truly been a dream come true. It’s given me more than a job. It’s given me a front row seat to the challenges and joys of motherhood.

You’ve taught me that motherhood comes in phases and each one asks something new of us. This is my phase of simplifying, finding more flexibility in my work, and choosing to spend more time with my young family.

Starting this fall, Materra Method will shift fully online through our app with pop-up classes sprinkled in. Our studio space will close at the end of October, but this is absolutely not the end of Materra. It’s the beginning of an exciting new chapter. ✨

I’m giving myself permission to make this decision, and most decisions right now, with the words “for now.” My needs and my family’s needs are constantly changing, and the most helpful thing I can do is make choices that fit this current moment.💛

Closing the physical space doesn’t mean I’m stepping away from this work. In fact, it’s the opposite! It means I’m choosing to honor my limits so I can continue showing up for years to come. For now, that looks like putting my time and energy into the app by filming new classes, creating new programs, and connecting with our members in ways that fit my life for now. 

Materra isn’t going anywhere. We’re just evolving. 💛

✨Take what you need. Leave what you don’t.✨ A mantra you’ll hear me using in our classes and in my daily life.

In a world of “shoulds” and comparisons, it can be easy to feel like we need to do all the things perfectly. This mantra reminds me that I am never stuck following someone else’s script. What I need today looks different from yesterday. And honoring my needs is powerful.

At Materra, we offer you options to find what feels good in your body, today, in this workout. And it’s our hope that when you practice this intentionality and self-awareness in exercise, it will inspire you to take what you need and leave what you don’t in other parts of your day.

“I’m Jo and I grew up in New York but currently live in St. Louis. I am married and have two boys, Asher, 6 and Jude, 2. In terms of my motherhood journey, I feel like I am JUST coming up for air now that my youngest is 2. I don’t even think I realized how (tired/different/all consuming) motherhood was until I started to feel like myself again. It still feels like a cosntant balancing act, but at least I get to sleep through the night now (knock on wood!)”

1️⃣ What activity fills your cup?
I am an avid reader and love sitting on my deck and reading (which in truth, is few and far between these days). I also love the beach. I grew up by the beach so nothing has made me happier seeing that my boys also love the beach and water now too.

2️⃣ What do you like most about Materra?
I LOVE the accessibility. I love that there is a workout for every stage of motherhood that you’re in. It doesn’t feel daunting- there is always a welcoming place to start with Materra. Also- I am a firm believer that 10 minutes of excerise is better than no minutes and I think Abby’s 8 min arm workout is one of my most frequented workouts!

3️⃣ What advice would you give to a new mom?
To try to keep your expectations to a minimum. I found that as soon as I tried to “expect” my baby to act a certain way, like sleep through the night two nights in a row or take a good nap, I would be thrown off when it wouldn’t happen. So I personally found that letting it all go and just accepting that those early days are choatic really helped me go with the flow and accept things as they are in the moment.

I’m with you if you’re in the days of trying to move your body and take care of baby 🤍.

This 10-minute, baby-friendly cardio class is one I’m testing before filming it for the app later this week. It’s quick, doable, and left me feeling a little more energized ✨

We move through:
• side-to-side toe taps
• single-leg knee pulls
• sumo squat punches
• star squats
Then repeat it all on the other side.

I focus on breathing well and keeping a stacked, neutral spine to support my core, pelvic floor, and back. I also made sure the carrier was positioned safely so both me and Lillian felt comfortable.
