It is with profound sorrow that we join the world in mourning the loss of brother, Malcolm‑Jamal Warner, whose life tragically ended from drowning while vacationing with his family in Costa Rica on July 20, 2025. Warner, beloved for his iconic role as Theo Huxtable on The Cosby Show, was more than a talented actor and musician; he was a devoted father, husband, and passionate advocate for mental health and social change.
This heartbreaking loss highlights the urgent need for swimming competency, water safety awareness, and equitable access to lifesaving resources globally. Natural bodies of water can pose serious, often invisible, risks even to the strongest, healthiest, and most skilled among us.
If learning to swim is on your list, if you have loved ones who haven’t learned yet, or if you’re already a swimmer, let’s honor Malcolm’s life and legacy through action and safety.
🛟 Make a commitment to learn to swim, support someone else’s journey, and always practice safe habits around water. Whether you swim often or rarely:
🛟 Never swim alone
🛟 Swim near lifeguards
🛟 Wear a lifejacket
Together, we can help save lives and ensure that everyone has the tools, education, and opportunity to be safe in and around water.
Let's keep each other safe. For resources on where to find programs and pools, check out the link in our bio or go to our website www.diversityinaquatics/findapool

the info on dry drowning. RIP Malcolm Jamal Warner. The ocean is so powerful, even a small amount of water is a danger.
Not swimming….but our friends over in the deep end are killing it! Wow!
