Front nine at Steele Canyon GC
Trying to qualify for the biggest amateur tournament in the state.
The California Amateur Championship.
This one has been circled on my calendar since I made an 8 on hole 13 in the qualifier last year and missed by 2.
Really want redemption this year.
Plus there’s no better barometer for how my game compares to the best ams in the state.
2 for 2 in qualifiers so far this year… let’s keep it going.

What I work on as a +4 handicap.
Connection, wrist angles and staying level through the shot to control arc depth…
Those are my main focuses every time I practice chipping.
The Wrist-X from is a great training aide to help with making sure your wrist angles are on point.
The feedback from the “click” is awesome to know I’m doing it correctly.
Works great in chipping and in the full swing to make sure the club face is square and on plane.
One of the best aides I’ve used.

Final Round. Back nine. PGA West Stadium course.
This is what I practice for.
Trying to win the first major of the year on the
6 shots back to start the day…
But with water lurking on almost every hole, I knew anything could happen.
Posted 3-under on the front and was only a couple back heading to the final 9.
The iconic last 3 holes would decide everything.
If you’re an athlete you know the feeling.
There’s nothing like competition.
Needing to perform when the pressure is greatest.
This is what I train for.
This is why I play.

Final round at PGA West stadium course.
Host of the Amex Championship.
Trying to win the years first major on the
Started the day 6 shots back of the lead and needed a low one to have a shot at taking home the trophy.
After a -3 under front nine… and the leaders struggling behind me on the challenging Pete Dye layout…
I was closing in fast.
Can’t get ahead of myself though.
Still 9 holes to go…
And with water and deep bunkers on almost every hole.
There’s plenty of chances to blow a good round.
I just tried to keep my head down and execute on every shot.
No shots off.
Let’s keep it going.
