Today was a baking day in the cookie kitchen and I have been busy getting this week’s orders baked, cooled, and ready to become pretty little pieces of art.

And now that the ovens are off and the kitchen is clean, I’m officially clocking out and celebrating National Pinot Noir Day the proper way… with a glass of wine in hand. 🍷
While I love a good glass of red at the end of a busy day, just remeber, cookies don't require a corkscrew 😘

This is the second time I’ve gotten to create this sweet “Here Comes the Son” theme, and somehow I fall a little more in love with it every time! There’s just something about baby shower cookies that makes my heart happy. Getting to be a tiny part of celebrating a brand-new little life is always such a treat.

Congratulations to the sweet mama-to-be! Wishing your growing family all the sunshine, snuggles, and sweet moments ahead. 🌤️

I would like to formally submit this ugly loaf as my proof of life. She's not gorgeous but she is in fact tasty. Alas, between cookies, getting my boys ready for a new school year, in-laws visiting, and desperately trying to squeeze every last drop out of summer, social media has been….... neglected to say the least.

I haven’t even been good about taking pictures of orders, so instead you get a sourdough loaf.
Fear not, I am still here, still baking, and will return to regularly scheduled cookie programming soon!

Turns out you can teach an old baker new tricks... although it may require approximately 100 panic calls to your best friend, the reigning sourdough queen herself.

In between sketching cookie orders today, I decided it was finally time to tackle the sourdough adventure I'd convinced myself was way too complicated. Was I 97% sure I'd end up with a hockey puck? Absolutely. But somehow... I made bread!

Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to pretend this roasted garlic & herb loaf isn't about to disappear under an irresponsible amount of butter while I finish sketching cookies.

One of my favorite parts of this job is when friends trust me enough to simply say, "Do your thing." As a military spouse, Change of Command ceremonies have always meant something more to me. They aren't simply a change in leadership, they represent years of sacrifice, resilience, long nights, missed birthdays and holidays, countless moves, and an entire family walking alongside the service member every step of the way.

When I'm creating a set like this, I spend hours planning, baking, decorating, and carefully piping every tiny detail until each cookie feels just right. Somewhere between mixing icing and adding those final details, I always find myself wondering about the story behind the name. The years of dedication it took to earn this moment. The challenges overcome. The people who believed in them. And the responsibility they're about to carry as they step into this new role.

That perspective is what makes these cookies so much more than dessert to me.

I'm incredibly honored and humbled every time I'm trusted to create something that helps celebrate such a monumental milestone. Getting to use my hands to recognize years of service, leadership, and sacrifice is one of the greatest privileges of this little business.
