Compost tea is a liquid form of compost that provides fertility to plants & soils. The essence of compost and compost tea are the microorganisms they contain. These microbes form symbiotic relationships with plants. They break down organic matter which then cycles nutrients to plants. The microbes also provide a protective barrier on the foliage and roots to shield against disease and pathogens. A teaspoon of healthy soil contains close to a billion bacteria, many yards of fungi, and thousands of protozoa and nematodes. Compost tea helps to bring this life back to the soil where it may have been lost due to tillage, chemical use, or compaction. As opposed to toxic chemicals, compost tea uses life and living organisms to help plants to thrive. We offer tea sprays, tea by the gallon, on-site brewing, and small-batch compost. Also offering worm compost, red wigglers, consultation, and microscopy. Free estimates!

Minnesota crop farmers could pay more than $100 million extra for diesel this year, a cost that farmers and state officials say could raise food prices.

That figure is according to Congress’ Joint Economic Committee, ranking the cost to Minnesota among the highest in the nation.

High fuel costs add to a growing list of challenges for farmers, and the report said those added costs are likely to lead to higher prices for consumers.

The team identified 689 fungal species, including 13 never before seen by science. Just one drop of ancient, discussed contained about 200 fungal cells, which is hovering around the same density found in ocean water. There were also tiny segmented worms and, of course, the beloved, ever-so-small tardigrades, altogether forming a vast interconnected underground food web where everyone lives in harmony when they aren’t eating each other.

Researchers found 689 fungal species and tiny animals in ancient water pulled from deep beneath Michigan’s Antrim Shale.

Classical scrapie is a fatal, degenerative prion disease of sheep and goats. Prior to this confirmation, the United States had gone more than 5 years without a case. The United States was positioned to meet WOAH's 7-year benchmark for self-declared scrapie freedom in January 2028.
This confirmed detection could reset that timeline and may push the earliest possible date for national scrapie-free status to approximately 2033.

A group of current and former USDA are calling on the Trump administration to halt the mandated relocation of more than 2,500 employees from its Washington, D.C., headquarters to five regional offices across the country.

In an online briefing hosted by federal union leaders Thursday, speakers said the reorganization process Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins has led will amount to widespread layoffs, as many workers will choose not to relocate across the country. . .

Since President Donald Trump returned to office last year, the USDA has lost more than 20,000 employees, according to Office of Personnel Management data. Most left through early retirement or buyouts offered by the U.S. Department of Government Efficency Service, union officials said.
